It is often said that animals "pick" their owners instead of vice-versa. At my household a strange thing began happening years ago after my daughter's (Pixie Frog) birth. From the time my child was an infant, around September/October it never fails that a young solid black cat makes its way to my home on the years we are without a pet. We lost our beloved "Bipolar Kitty" AKA Hallow last year. He was the latest in the string of black cats that had arrived at our home in only September of the previous year.
'Lo and behold, last night a strange cat was in our yard when we arrived home. The cat was a chubby, gray tabby and ran like the dickens when we pulled in the driveway. We tried to call the cat and give it some lovin' without any luck. As the cat made its way to my neighbors yard it was startled by something. My daughter said "MOM! There's something over there!" Thinking it was yet another fat possum we stared with curiosity. As Pixie continued to call "here kitty kitty", POOF! There is was. A beautiful, sleek, young, solid black female kitten. Utterly gorgeous!
Only skiddish for a few seconds, my daughter scooped her up. This little critter purrs like a freight train! I talked to my surrounding neighbors about the young cat. While they all knew of the gray tabby, no one had seen hide nor hair of the little black cat. Needless to say, the kitten came in our house of her own free will, crawled on my check, rested her head on my shoulder and fell right to sleep.
I awoke this morning to find she'd used the makeshift litter box my daughter had made and gobbled up the food and water left for her. I then found her under my daughter's arm all stretched out, head on the pillow, in my little ones bed.
Obviously this being the time of year it is, I told my daughter the same thing I tell her every other time this happens. The cat will stay with us until we find its rightful owner. How ironic it is that we seem to never find these animal's "rightful owners"; although the cats themselves would say otherwise.
Now it's time to give this black beauty a name. She is petite, sleek, talkative. A wonderous little creature. Something bold, ancient or otherworldy would fit the bill. I do have a name in mind, but would love to hear other suggestions.
What would you name that kitty?

Ahh! Seems like she know where she's meant to be. My black Friday appeared under our carport meowing on Halloween afternoon 2008. I was standing in the kitchen preparing my special Halloween dinner and I look outside and there she was. She didn't run from me, but she wouldn't come in the house either. I left the door opened and poured some canned food on a paper plate and went about finishing dinner. I look and she had came in ate the food and was curled up on the dog bed asleep.
Do you have any pics of her yet? As for a name how about Pagan, Pixie, Ebony, or Cinders? I'm not very good at naming animals. One of our cats name is Kit Kat.

That's so strange! But cool. One of my friends was looking into something about animal spirit guides. And if there is always one type of animal that is always coming around to you they are your animal spirit guide... I will have to ask her more the next time I see her.
There's a Romani name- Luminista
Teshuva is a Hebrew name that means to return, since you have a black cat returning every year or so.
What about nameing her Spirit?Hello, I want my book. Bonjour, je veux mon livre.

Aw, that’s so nice that she found a good home with you guys. You probably already know to get her a check up and make sure she's dewormed (outdoor roaming cats quite often have them).
There are some interesting ancient Egyptian cat names here: http://www.solarnavigator.net/egypti..._goddesses.htm
http://www.cat-lovers-gifts-guide.co...cat-names.html
Here are a few I liked:
NEIT (Night; Female): Known by her title, "The Huntress". She was said to have been the ruler of the lower heavens, and was patron to not only the hunt and warfare, but to the domestic arts and mysticism as well. She was also protectress of women and marriage. Since her primary responsibilities were concerned with hunting, Neit is an excellent name for your fearless nocturnal mouser, particularly given its pronunciation.
Jamila – Beautiful
Akila – Smart, intelligent
Kamilah – Perfect, perfection
Safiya – Pure, whole
You should probably stick with the one you like, though.
