I just want to scream. Three weeks ago, my job just changed without my input. What was a really manageable 8-5 job with the occassional busy times and travel has now become a 7:30-8:00 or later job every day. I don't like ANYTHING about what I am doing now, and I'm losing my mind. Went from a few meetings here and there, to having MOST days booked solid with meetings, but still need to do 3x as much "WORK" as before. WTF?

Today, I just decided to up and leave at 6pm! I just can't take it any more, I want to spend time with my family at some point. We have a 2.5 year old and 5 month old, this is really sustainable to me.

    So, here's my scream......

    fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu uuuuuuuuuuuuuuu(dge) it!

    I'm buying lotto tickets tonight!

Not to be a downer...but I will anyway. LOL
I used to feel the same way about my job.
I would daydream all day about not having to work there.
Well, half way through August, I got my wish.
My company closed down with three days notice.
I've filled out about 80 aplications and have gotten one call back.
Times really suck out there right now.
I wish I could get my job back.
No matter how much it sucked, not getting paid sucks even more.
Yeah I get U.C. but it is only 1/3 of what I was getting paid.

Yep. That's the catch, who's going to complain and risk getting canned?

They asked me, after TELLING me about my new position, "what do you think?"

As if an employee can say, "you know, I'd rather not..."

Um....derrrrr.....in the time it took him to open & compose that email he could've sent the attached file to our shiny, new copier that will collate it all & punch the holes too.

He does that all the time. Last time I told him "Uhhh...you know you can't hit print too."

    Apparently that didn't sink in.

I'm so glad my misery is entertaining!

I keed, I keed. It's ridiculous & it doesn't upset me much anymore. It's easier to just do it & it makes everything flow easier that way.

I usually call them on crap like that & get a blank stare, then they print it themselves.

They're also really big here on re-typing crap. It's just not obvious to them that I can cut & paste emails & documents into the things they need. No. They print out these documents whether it's emails or long-assed manuals, & say "Could you put this into this?" & it's about 10 pages of technical crap or something like that.

I then ask "Did you get this in an email, as an attachment or off the internet?" & they're all "Yeah why?"

**insert slamming head on desk smiley here**

Listen, I'm a pretty fast typist & fairly accurate, but I am NOT retyping a 10 page manual. I've said as much as that to different bosses. I don't mind re-typing a few lines here & there because sometimes it is faster than having them try to find it in their overcrowded inboxes again, but not a 10 page technical manual.

They also lack some serious google-fu. Someone needed to find a manual from some HVAC company, I google, hit 3 or 4 pages on the site & BINGO there it is while they spend hours & say "I couldn't find it online, so just retype/copy/etc. this 150 page manual, we'll need 6 copies." That's when I like to search while they're standing next to me & find the **** in 30 seconds.

I put up with some nonsense, but I'm not gonna put up with it all.

My old boss was the same way. He'd send me an e-mail that probably took him 10 minutes to write explaining something he wanted me to do, that would have taken him about 1 minute to do himself. And he was the one with the college education. LOL
