Thread: Peter Pan Secret Room with Fiber Optics

This is a little off the Halloween topic but I think you might get a kick out of it.
I’ve been building a new house and we decided that we wanted to make a secret room. (We’ve built other houses with secrets rooms before) This secret room inside the turrent/tower.

At the top of the circular staircase the wall has a gothic mirror that when you pull on the mirror it opens into the secret room. The room is circular and not very big but big enough for a secret play room for the kids and someday grandkids. We decided to make it a Peter Pan room. The room was tall enough to add a loft. That loft gave us more space to use.


When we walk into the room, on the wall, we (my wife) is painting a mural that begins at Wendy’s house and transitions to London, Big Ben, the London Bridge. The mural wraps around the room and goes up to the loft. The mural follows the flight of Tinker Bell as she goes through London, past the second star on the right, to Never Land and the Lost Boys tree house and finally to Capt. Hook’s pirate ship.

We’ve put in fiber optics, over 600 strands, in the walls and ceiling. The fiber optics is used as the “light trail” of Tinker Bell, stars and other lights.

The lower area of the secret room will be designed to be the inside of Wendy’s house. The loft will be the lost boys tree house and pirate ship. I’ll be building the tree out of monster mud and wood frame. The pirate ship will have a ship’s steering wheel and possible sailing mast.

We’re still in the building stage but I thought I’d post some pictures if you’re interested.

Are you building this house yourself...it is going to be beautiful...love the turrents!!!!!!

And do YOU have your own secret room............I know if I did one for the kids , I sure as hell would do one for me !!!! Nice work and craftsmanship!!

OH How I Envy You!! I have been collecting 1st & 2nd book printing of the original peter pan book for years.

color me green with envy! I cant imagine the cost to build this type of house, I imagine you or the wife does very well for yourselves, lol. Fiber optics in the peter pan room sounds so magical and I hope that when you get it all completed we can see video of it in action.

If I had the money I would totally do what you are, Ive talked to the fiance about it loads of times. Weve discussed secret back doors, a moat and drawbridge into garage garage. Secret passageways, ect.
