help me!! i got a 10 month old jack russell for my 5 year old. she's sweet as can be BUT she poops on everything. i'm talking beds, couches, floors, tables. EVERTHING. She also play bites and it kind of hurts and no matter how i punish her, she wags her tail and gets excited about it. is she just stupid?! i have an 8 year old black lab and she was a piece of cake to train, but this jack russell is a demon in an angels disguise! i will admit that i haven't been the best at training her. i work a full time job and i'm a bit lazy. i just don't want to turn my back for 2 seconds and find and nice fresh pile on my pillow anymore!

Tables? Remind me not to come over to your house for dinner. When my basset was a pup the best thing I could do was take him for regular walks, when he would relieve himself I would repeat a code word over and over till he was done. It got to the point I would walk him outside, say the code word and he would automatically pee or poop on command. Another thing you may want to consider is to kennel her when you are not around, then when you first come home take her outside to do her business.
I'm not a dog trainer but the code word worked for me and I know putting them in a kennel while you are gone has worked for others. We dont need a body bag, we need a bucket.............and a strainer.

We adopted 2 jack russels when they were dropped off near us and took up residance in our bushes (yes we looked everywhere for their 'owners') They are about 10 monthes old also...No they are not stupid but they do have ADD. Ours are getting better on the potty training, in fact they almost have us trained! They have stopped chewing on the walls, I am about to patch them up.
I would suggest cage training.
And yes you have to take them outside about every 1/2 hours and right after they eat, they learn very quick with possitive re-enforcement and treats!
GOOD LUCK!!!!!
p.s when trying to convince my husband we should keep them I said 'But they are like one dog'....well that comment has come back to bite me in the butt often!!!Man cannot live on bread alone.... (unless he is in a cage and that is all you feed him.)

Crate training is the only way to go. And make sure that the crate is small enough that the pup doesn't feel like they can go potty in it. We had to block the back of ours with a couple of boxes for the first few months until she got bigger. (She's a Jack Russell mix) They are sort of stubborn and a little ADD, like natascha said! The code word suggestion is GREAT. Took a little time, but now we can take her out and say "go potty, Bella" and she pees and poops right away. The prime timeis right after they eat, and with a small puppy, at least every hour. Stop feeding and watering a couple of hours before bedtime. She is still a big chewer and we have to provide lots of chew toys. We've also found that 20 minutes of frisbee chasing is worth its weight in gold as far as her behavior is concerned...they need a lot of exercise. But Bella just turned a year in June, and things are so much easier now, it just takes some consistency and time. What's the little cutie's name?

Geeze I never thought I would hear of another dog that did things like that! My brother had a very hyper poodle who never learned not to poo on everything...even till her death in her teens. She would even climb on the back of your chair and go on your shoulder or head if it was within reach!!!
Good Luck

MHooch, one of ours is a Bella also, the other is Addie (sort of looks like Eddie on Fraiser) and our Pom is Chewy.

Hooch's suggestion is exactly how we trained all three of our German Shepherds. Eventually, every time we said "Wanna' go poop?" they would do a little dance and potty immediately after going outside.

Wishing ya much success here, Kallie, you've gotten some good tips to work with. I've got no experience with Jack Russells except for the one that lives with a lady I clean for. The entire house is his bathroom. The other day, he took a dump right in front of us and looked up at her like, "Hey, check out that prize winner."
Dude needs some redirection, for sure.

crate training for sure! then time her after she eats or drinks take her out 15 mins after she does eat or drink.
as for the chewing they make some good products out there like the bitter apple spray, made my own recipe using tobasco sauce and water in a spray bottle and that stopped the chewing immidiatly but my dog was chewing on any power cord she could get ahold of.
to get the urine smell and stain out use this recipe in a 12 oz bottle
3/4 hot water
1/2 hydrogene peroxide (test small carpet first)
4 drops of hand dish soap
3 table sppons of baking soda
put in bottle then shake it up
apply it on urine spot then add white vinegar to it. The WV will make it foam and fizzle
blot it up and then re apply this time let it dry and then vaccum it up
works well on other stains too
