Not a quote...
My partner keeps a hidden stache of M&Ms in his desk so he started chunking M&Ms on the floor everyonce in a while today to see if Jim would pick them up and eat them.
It backfired. Jim kept seeing the M&Ms on the floor and figured out he had them and ended up eating the rest of the bag.

He is short and stout kinda like a George Costanza from the Seinfeld show except in better shape.
He goes to the gym every morning and swims several laps.
Today, my partner went to go get something to eat and Jim asked him to bring him back two cheese burgers. A little later I went to get something to eat and he asked me to stop by Arby's and get him three roast beef sandwiches....and yes he ate them all.We dont need a body bag, we need a bucket.............and a strainer.

New installment:
I took last week off to get ready for Halloween. Apparently one of my Supervisors doesnt pay that much attention to the schedule.
Me: (phone rings) Hello
Supervisor: Are you busy?
Me: I'm grocery shopping
Supervisor: Why are you grocery shopping?
Me: I needed groceries
Supervisor: Where are you?
Me: At the grocery store.
Supervisor: Wait a minute...you are at the grocery store (statement, not question)
Me: Yes, what can I do for you?
Supervisor: First off you can stop what you are doing and meet me in my office.
Me: Well, thats going to take a bit I need to go home and change but I am going to buy my groceries first.
Supervisor: (sounding pissed), No you will leave that stuff there and come to my office.
Me: Well okay, but I am going home to change first.
Supervisor: Why do you need to change.
Me: Because I am in a T shirt and shorts.
Supervisor: Wait a minute, are you on duty?
Me: No, I took this week off, you signed for it remember.
Supervisor: umm No, sorry I thought you were on duty, never mind about coming to the office.
Me: Can I finish grocery shopping now?
Supervisor: ummm yeah, sorry go ahead. We dont need a body bag, we need a bucket.............and a strainer.

Okay, its been a while. 2010 finished out to be a record year for us unfortunately and I am sure I had tons of stories I could have told since the last time I posted on here. However, I am going to try and get started again.
Happened the other day. We were working an obvious suicide, one of those that there is no doubt as to what happened.
Partner: This is so confusing, I don't understand it.
Me: What do you mean?
Partner: I just cant figure it out and it is bothering me.
Me: What do you mean you cant figure it out...its obvious. What cant you figure out?
Partner: Why does he have two Matrix DVD's?We dont need a body bag, we need a bucket.............and a strainer.

Well this isnt a quote so bear with me.
I work a lot of different types of cases, anything from cars being broken into, burglaries, robberies, murders, suicides etc... I always put %100 into it even if I think it is a BS case. And unfortunately there are quite a few BS cases. I worked a BS case the other day and was able to prove, forensically that it was a BS case. I get a lot of satisfaction from what I do. We dont always get any atta boys for the job and there are times where there is a lot of frustration.
Last year I worked a case where a guy, who was acting like he was homeless, had gained the trust of a local store owner and started working there part time. He gained the store owners trust. One night as she was closing the store he attacked her, dragged her into the back room, beat her to near death (responding Deputies thought she had been shot in the head it was so bad). He stole money out of the cash register and safe and then took the VHS tape out of the recording system and fled.
Well it turned out that the VHS tape system was fake and the store had video on a DVR. We were able to watch the video, see everything he did in the store prior to the attack. He was in the store for six hours. I watched that video and every where he touched, every item he picked up I processed for prints only to see later in the video that he wiped down his prints every time he touched something. He sat at a back table during part of the day drinking out of a pepsi can,,,he wiped that down too. I got his DNA of the can from him drinking but that would mean that we would have an ID maybe in four weeks if he was in the system.
I watched that video for hours. He would touch something, I would pause the video, process it, get no results and later see him wipe it down. If he threw something in the trash. I dug through the trash to find it.
Finally, I saw him buy a bag a Fritos, eat and throw it in the trash. i found that bag in the trash, took it and held it like it was the most priceless, fragile thing in the world. I had to decide on the best method to use to process it. I processed it..got a fingerprint..closed down the scene and ran to our office to run it through the system. I put it in the system and paced back and forth waiting for the results to come back. They did, I had a match, I made an ID, I verified it (it doesnt work like you see on TV) and called the other investigators to let them know.
After a two day man hunt he was apprehended. He is also a suspect in a double murder that occured in another state.
Friday he went before the judge and pled guilty and got more than a life sentence.
Its times like this...I dont need any atta boys from my co workers or supervisors. I know the job I did.
I know there are quite a few Law Enforcement, FIre, EMS, Military Etc... on here. Do your job...come home safe.... I salute you.We dont need a body bag, we need a bucket.............and a strainer.
