My daughter is 21 months old and has been living in and out of a hospital ever since. I had to be induced with her early because I had preclampsia and she was 2 lbs and 7 oz when she was born. The good news is it was a week before Halloween and a week after my birthday!

At a day old, she had to have surgery. Doctors discovered her little intestines were kinked and twisted inside of her. She needed to have over 10% of her intestine cut out, she was placed with a stoma and also given a central line and started on TPN. TPN is an IV nutrition supplement that is connected to the central line in her chest and then runs for 16 hours. I do all of her home care. She was able to get the stoma reversed but she had to have more intestine cut out during the surgery. All told, she has lost about 20%.

The line can cause infections. She has had multiple. In May, she actually went into sepsis and was on a ventilator and ECMO for over 2 weeks. She has had 6 line replacements. We all agreed her line is doing more harm than good at this point. We can't just stop her TPN though. It has to be very slowly weaned and she cannot handle big changes.

She also decided to stop eating entirely. She was only allowed formula because of her condition and about 2 weeks she quit eating. We have placed her at the Children's Institute in order to see if specialists can work with her and help her start eating better. At this point, it is looking like we may have to go with a feeding tube. She will also need leg bracers to help her walk. She is only 16 lbs so she can't support herself enough.

I ask that all of my Halloween forum friends please pray for Charleigh. Or send well wishes her way if you aren't the praying kind. It's been a very trying two years. Four days after I had her, my dad passed from cancer. His showing was on Halloween, which was appropriate because he loved the day as much as I do.

Darkpumpkin I am so sorry to hear what your lil girl is going through. Sounds to me like she is a fighter and my money is on her I will absolutely be putting her and you and your family in my prayers. While I do not discuss on here my religious beliefs, those on here who are close to me know that I am a strong believer in prayer and can say I have seen the power of prayer first hand. You must believe that that she will come through all of this. Like I said my prayers are with you and your lil girl, stay strong and God Bless.

DarkPumpkin, I am sorry you and your family are dealing with this- I will keep you close in thought and prayers, and I too have seen the power of prayer, God Bless you and your little one.

Oh Darkpumpkin, I can't imagine this...of course y'all have my prayers. I hope Charleigh is well very soon!

Good karma coming your way! Children are a lot more resilient than we often believe. Have faith she will be restored to health.

Thank you everyone! It means so much to me. She still isn't hardly eating anything. We may have to go with a G-tube option in order to get her off the TPN. And yesterday, her dad was in a motorcycle accident. He was dinged up a good bit but no broken bones. When it rains, it pours!
