As a parent of two sons who serve our great nation, I thought it might be fitting to start a Memorial Day thread to recognize and honor all of those who sacrifice so much to keep us safe and protect the many freedoms we enjoy. Please feel free to add pics, links, quotes or anything else that pertains to this important but often overlooked holiday, and also take a moment to remember those who have gone before us, and those currently in harms way.

A tribute to fallen Marines, but it speaks to the sacrifice of any serviceman and their family.

Happy Memorial Day to you and your family! And thanks for all your family has done, including your two sons. I am an ex-Marine and wish them well. Ooh rah and Semper Fi!

I wasnt called to duty when the first Gulf War was in operation, but nearly everyone of my neighborhood buddies, and there were at least five of us to serve, and several of my cousins have served during war and I am grateful for all of them.

Take care and have a great weekend.....

In the pouring rain, wreaths were laid at the military graveyard in Margraten, Holland.
More than 8000 american soldiers were killed in the liberation of Holland.

    EACH FOR HIS OWN MEMORIAL
EARNED PRAISE THAT WILL NEVER DIE
    AND WITH IT
    THE GRANDEST OF ALL SEPULCHRES
    NOT THAT IN WHICH
    HIS MORTAL BONES ARE LAID
    BUT A HOME
    IN THE MINDS OF MEN

I've never been to this graveyard but have been to the one in Belgium. It really left a lasting impression on me.
