So I Netflixed "Drag Me to Hell" and I LOVED it. It was so...creepy. Everything you've just gotta love: an old woman's old-world curse...a fresh young couple never suspecting what's about to happen...a tricky ending...not a huge amount of gore but the gore that was there, was SUPER-gory, almost campy. But not a huge amount of camp. And seriously shock/surprise-type jumping back in one's seat.

LOVED IT, LOVED IT...I was freaked out...but my poor husband...he watched through his fingers and kept going "Oh my God!".

After it was over I turned to him and told him how deeply satisfying the creepiness experience was for me...and he said, "From now on I'm going to call you Melvira, because you're the mistress of the dark."

    Melvira, I LOVE it.

i went to a movie with a boyfriend one time, years ago. he was a big, biker, tough guy. he asked what the movie was about and i had no idea. my daughter in about 3rd grade wanted to see it. it had on the billing all these cute little furry guys. i figured it was a cute little family show. just for a joke i said it's about monsters that eat and kill all the townspeople. well, remember the gremlins? yeah, he sat through the whole movie looking through his fingers. lol. my daughter and i just cracked up. but on the same token when my daughter and i were told scream was a comedy a few years ago, when it was over neither of us could get up to shut off the tv. it terrified us.
so melvira, nice to meet you. lol.

If you loved it, please see the Evil Dead Trilogy if you never did! It's Sam Raimi that returned to his roots!

I agree with Scott N. I laughed at that movie the whole time. It was like watching a halloween disney movie all over again.

I will definitely rent The Evil Dead! That's funny because that's what my husband said. "I'm sure you must have watched The Evil Dead movies a hundred times." But oddly--I never have!

Well, you know, I've always kind of known this about myself. I'm a little bit childish and silly. Although I love to be very, very, very (did I mention very?) scared, I also like the more childish stuff. Now that that's been mentioned, I'd bet dollars to donuts that's why I loved this movie.

I like harvest festivals too...silly childlike fluffy stuff like that...I like the Renaissance Faire...all that goofy stuff! I have my fluffy side and I have my dark side. I think what I loved about this particular movie is that it really did seem to recall all the stuff that scared me as a kid. "Gypsy" (no offense to any Rom, that's the old-fashioned generic term and includes not just Rom) curses, a relatively innocent person thrown into this frightening situation...people coming back from the dead...I loved it!!!

I like super-scary stuff too but this sort of thing just gives me the deep-down, all-the-way-from-when-I-was-little chills. I want to buy the DVD! DH is begging me not to, though. He really DOESN'T like anything scary...even campy-scary.

Oh, I did laugh at one point...when she spewed blood at her boss...it really did sort of look like a Monte Python skit.

No offense intended... each likes things for different reasons right or wrong (and I think I've been called wrong once ) and I am a huge Python fan! LOL

But with this flick I never could figure out if it was intentional camp like Evil Dead 2, or just bad. The witch/woman was almost lifted right out of Army of Darkness as I remember her. I know I didn't seem to be laughing with it as much as laughing at it.

But I've also been reminded I'm a bit odd on many occasion. I ware that title proudly.

Just a forewarning Mel the Evil Dead is pretty gory...once it starts it doesn't stop throughout the entire movie. The movies change when getting into Evil Dead 2 and the 3rd movie Army of Darkness, they get pretty silly and funny at times.

Definitely worth a watch for those who enjoy being scared.

    Ps...Melvira is pretty cute!!
As I was going up the stair, I saw a man that wasn't there.
He wasn't there again today...Oh how I wish he'd go away.
