Our new Marine!
Graduated Friday from recruit training at Parris Island. Meritorious promotion to private first class (one of three in his platoon of 70.) Was also selected to be a Series Guide for four of the 7 platoons in Alpha Company. He accompanied the Series gunnery sargeant during the ceremony. That's him carrying the reg flag. Needless to say we are very proud!

What a good- looking Marine!!! I know you're proud and he must be relieved it's finally over!
Where does he go from here? And 'congrats' to him for the meritorious promotion to private first class! Very, very impressive!!!

All the very best to your Jarhead, Jdubbya! My own son did a three year hitch in the Army right out of College (He was in Junior Year during 9/11) and, in hindsight, it was the best decision he's ever made.

Thanks! He's glad that piece of it is behind him. From here he goes to NC for SOI (school of infantry) then on to his job school which is presidential security.
Thanks Wolfman! Glad your son had a good experience. Mine is embracing this and I would not be surprised if he stays in for awhile. He is already talking about rank advancement.
