Living in Europe, I am constantly exposed to information over WWII and the holocaust. Not to mention all the places within europe that were ravaged by war and all the memorials to the soldiers who gave their lives in the name of freedom. But nothing has touched me the same as a TV program that was aired this evening in Holland. Its a regularly scheduled TV program where classmates are reunited in their old schools.
Tonight they reunited the classmates of Anne Frank in Amsterdam. They came from around the world to be reunited again. Some from as far away as Brazil and Canada. Most of them in their late 70's and early 80's. The ones who survived sitting together again in their old classroom. The classmates that Anne had written about in her diary. Old pictures. Long list of classmates who didn't survive the camps and what Anne had written about them in her diary. The personal stories of those who survived about how it was to be a kid back in those times. How classmates where in school one day and then the next day....just gone. Not really understanding what their disappearance meant. And of course their own survival stories....of not just surviving the camps but surviving life after the war. It was an extremely emotional hour of television but at the same time truly amazing to see Anne's classmates back together again in their old school.

That would have been nice to see. I had read most of her diary (book of course). All the pain that were endured by the survivors and the people that had lost their lives. I have watched alot of documentaries and movies on the subject. It makes you wonder how people could try and justify their action in that time. We were watching Band of brothers on one of the cable stations this weekend for about the 80th time. LOL thank you for posting.
