Some time ago, when Steve Irwin got killed by a Stingray, I was ripped by several female members of this forum for calling him a self-promoting Doofuss. Well, check THIS little tidbit out -

"You've got to remember, you can be just like Bindy."
Give me a break! How sad that the mother's determination to "keep the Irwin PR machine alive" is really what the focus is here. Beautiful little kids but IMO being "proud" of having been bitten by snakes at such an early age is something the mother should not be bragging about.
Wolfman, as I recall I echoed your sentiments about Irwin when he died. I'm hoping the mother won't have to lose one of her children at some point in the same tragic manner due to her need to keep the legacy going. These are little kids and so disconcerting that they are being used for merchandising of the Irwin name. Mindy, can you spell "exploitation?"

This is total exploitation of this kid. OMG it is so blatant in your face using the kid to keep the Steve Irwin legond alive. The Mom is bound to loose her child to stupidity just like she lost her husband to stupidity.

Well, let's hope that (kid dies from harassing a "harmless" wid animal) never happens. Maybe this marketing ploy will fall on its face and the mother will give up on it. But when that Croc Hunter guy died a few years ago, I figured something was "crook", as they say Down Under. I mean it isn't normal to wave your baby around in front of a crocodile. What if something had gone wrong way back then? Imagine the headlines - "World Watches in Horror as TV Personalty Feeds His Infant Son to a Crocodile!"

Steve Irwin did some great work for conservation, not just in Australia, but around the world.
He was instrumental in develping techniques for the safe capture and relocation of Crocodiles that would otherwise have been killed as they posed a significant threat to humans.
His Australia Zoo and Reptile Park is a beacon light in the field of reptile conservation.
However..The cult of Celebrity inevitably reared it's ugly head. Now it seems that the celebrity status is much more imortant than Steve's legacy in the field of conservation.
The furore surrounding The Irwin's dangling their newborn over a huge Crocodile is well documented and needs no further comment, but to hear Terri Irwin bragging that her daughter was nailed twice by the same snake saddened and slightly shocked me. What the hell was the kid doing kissing a snake anyway?? Way to go Mum...That's teaching your kids respect for wild animals, isn't it ??
I worked with snakes for 8 years. If I had gone boasting to people that I had been hit twice by the same animal, I would have fully expected to be branded as a fool.
If I had boasted that I had allowed my child to be bitten twice by the same animal, I would have fully expected the inevitable Social Services inquiry....
