OK Im here with yet another proud mom moment. So here is what happend, my son was promised in his sophmore year that he could play the star spangle banner during homecoming his senior year. Well now we are in the senior year and he was all set. However some cheerleader wanted to do it and had asked as well and she was told they had someone already. Well she didnt take that too well. So she decided to show up at the game get up to the stand box and give her name as the person who would be singing. she takes the mic, the announcer announces that the song will now be sung by so and so. We are like what??? Keep in mind that if they made some arrangement to have them both sing it this wouldnt have been a problem, however what she did knowing my son was set up ready to go was simply in poor taste.There my son is on the field waiting to play. Everyone stands and she starts. He is standing there all confused but handled it like a gentleman. stood up and looked at the flag like anyone would do. As she is singing the music director who is in charge of who does the song at the games goes up to the box and explains to the announcer that there has been a mistake. (A mistake in poor taste if you ask me but whatever) Anyway she gets done and the announcer announces that if we could remain standing for one more performance. Keep in mind the announcer had no idea who was supposed to be singing but he handled it very well. So after all the confusion my son gets his chance. I was worried that the way this all went down he would have been nervous,but as you will see he handled himself beautifully. I would just like to add that while what the girl did was really in poor taste and dirty handed, in the end in worked in my sons favor because no one will remember her rendition.

He did a super-great job! As for the cheerleader, she sounds like a very small person!

wow spookie that is some story , that girl should of been banned from cheerleading or anything with school activity for pulling this , school should have done something about her after.....

There are a lot of performers that couldn't recover for an incident like that. But your son is obviously a star .. just like the announcer said.

I'm sure after yours sons Awesome performance, people were saying,,,,"What Cheerleader??"
I loved his version of the Star Spangled Banner, and I bet , it would have given me chills if I was there to hear it live.

As for the girl...putting herself before others and in such a deceitful way is deplorable. She wasn't worthy of singing the anthem.
