Like with Halloween this year and my magic mirror, I wanted to now kick up Christmas a bit. I would like to do something with the computer again, but I do have my concerns about the really cold weather. For Halloween, it was surprisingly warm outside (in the 60's, but the next day it went back down to the low 50's).
So as of now I am not 100% sure if I am going to use the vestibule outside of a static display. Instead I was thinking about one of those computer based light control systems that go with the music. I am going to keep it simple though...something on the order of just 16 channels. That should be enough.
The good thing about this is that I could leave my computer in the basement and run the main wire out of the house, this way I don't have to be concerned too much with the cold temperature.
December's here don't get very cold anyway. Mostly upper 30's lower 40's...the freezing weather doesn't hit until Janurary.
But no, I don't intend to go crazy either. It is kind of hard to go buck wild for two holidays anyway. As it is, most people I know that have larger Halloween haunts start their construction towards the end of the summer already. It would be really hard to get all of that down, plan and set up for Christmas.
So yeah, I do see that often that those that decorate heavy for Halloween, usually go light for Christmas...and vice versa.
I would say of the two, I do find myself leaning towards Halloween now more than Christmas. You can definitely have more fun with Halloween!
