Well we found out today my daughter's school is closed tomorrow due to the amount of kids absent with the flu. 10 confirmed cases of swine flu or h1n1. Sports are canceled because the other districts are refusing to play us. I didn't think this would happen so early in school year. I guess maybe we'll get it over with early.

Has nothing to do with the flu but with how GOOD you are

We've had a few random cases but not the large outbreak they have been predicting since august. *knocks on wood*

We received a recorded message from the school saying the absentee rate had hit 25% today. It was around 13 yesterday. So it's a decent size outbreak. As long as my daughter doesn't get anything I'm happy. I don't know how good they are with sports, I think the football team last year did sucky but I could be wrong...lol. Maybe it's more a sympathy thing from the other districts...lol. I'd be stoned to death if they read that.

I think every flu is being blaimed on swine flu. I work for the American Red Cross and work with blood at a testing center. The word at work is that most doctors do not know what flu you have. They just know you have one of the thousands of strands out there. Swine flu is just one strand of meny. There are over a thousand known flu strands out in the world. Do you know what one you got. I doubt it because the flu is every where in one type or the other. Yes the flu can be dangerous to the very old and very young. I think this thing is overblown. The flu can be prevented by hand washing lots of times a day and keeping contact to mucus membrains at a minimal. The hands pick up lots of germs so wash um lots and your chances of sickness are less.

Neither are we. We don't even get the standard flu shot. We've all had the flu before and somehow we miraculously survived it. I think they push these shots just a little too hard for my taste. I'll take my chances and build up my own antibodies. When you start to feel like you're getting sick Zicam is a life saver. I use it every time I feel something coming on and I never get whatever it is. I wasn't sick 1 time last winter.

Ya this Swine flu is fast becoming global. Our province has just announced and declared a Pandemic Swine Flu outbreak as the infection is spreading rapidly accross our province. We just had our 7th death related to it, the last one being a 22 year old female. Where they say "Fraser Health Authorities" the real concern is right now is most hospitals do not have enough Ventilators/Respirators for the numbers of people being hospitalized from it. One of our major hospitals which is gearing up to take any overflow of pateints who may have to be tranfers from other hospitals either due to staff shortage or medical equipment shortage has just purchased and is awaiting the arrival of 25 new Ventilator/Respirator machines.
I know I've been told to even lower my exposure to contact with people more then I already have during the flu season. I just got over the flu, and for the first time on Tuesday went out to the mall again to get some shopping done and by the time I had been in there for a little over an hour started to feel flusih again, and today battling yet another bug. And yes I am very careful, I wash my hands very often, never open doors etc with my hands always pull my sleeve down to open doors and wash after touching anything in public, and until I wash I don't put my hands near my mouth, nose or eyes. But short of wearing a mask theres limits to what one can do when germs are airborn. I don't go out a great deal and do most of my shopping last at night when there are far less people in the stores, but holy hell, it just seems like our world is becoming polluted in every sense.

Home | Zicam Official Website It's like a miracle, I never get anything if I use it in time and even if I miss it, it lessens the severity of the cold or whatever you may be getting. There was a recall because people claim they lost their sense of smell after using the nasal one. That's the only one I use and I never had a problem. If you can get it I highly recommend it. If you get the tablets, I'm not gonna lie, the taste is horrible and you can't drink for like 20 minutes after chewing. It really is a lifesaver. My daughter hates it though because she doesn't get to miss school with a cold anymore...lol

Garlic, Peeps. Lots and lots of garlic. Unless, of course, one happens to be a Vampire...
