It's been a few (20) years since I held an active food handlers permit, but it WAS ok to pick up FROZEN food off the floor and then cook it.

You don't want to hear about whopper patty hockey...

And the glove thing has certainly come about since then...

I worked in the business when the Jack-in-the-box E. Coli incident happened (not my company) and you wouldn't believe the scramble! That one incident is what smacked restaurant owners in the head about the importance of food safety. Before, food safety was low on the priority list. But, when kids were DYING that is what woke us out of our stupor. So sad that it took the death of children to spotlight the importance of food sanitation....

Today, restaurant sanitation is 1,000% better. The chain restaurants are the best at it, mom & pops are the worst. You know who is the shining example of excellent food sanitation now? Yep, you are right, Jack-in-the-Box.

I think if we saw what goes on behind the scenes at ANY restauraunt that we'd never eat out again.

I DO know people who absolutely refuse to eat any food that they haven't persoanlly prepared themselves. Even at church, club or employee dinners they always bring their own food to eat. I see their point, but it makes you wonder why they come to any dinners then.

yes, please report that, you could be saving someone's life! That is really horrifying. and who knows if it is only the management at that location, or if this is company wide policy...

I have to admit I am becoming one of "those" people. I rarely go out to eat, and when I do, it's to a few select restaurants that I know and trust. Places where I know the owners and the staff. It's not that I worry about the staff as much as I worry about the long trail of handlers the food has had.

After watching movies like "Fast Food Nation" and "SuperSize Me", I have stopped eating at fast food establishments. It takes a lot for me to even buy beef or chicken at the store anymore. I've gone almost completely vegetarian as a result -- which my wife loves because she's been a vegetarian for 20 years!

I don't mean to go all "green" and "sustainable" on everyone, but I'm really happy with garden-grown vegetables, boca burgers, and the entire line of Quorn products (frickin' yummy!). I also love pasta and rice and cous-cous.

We still purchase all sorts of stuff for the girls. My wife doesn't want to force them into anything, so they still get pepperoni pizza, hot dogs, chicken nuggets, etc. The grandparents even take them to MacDonalds occassionally.
