TK, I'm totally in on this!! Wooooo! Support and good-healthy-eating-vibes to you!
Ok, I just got home from work and we had a monster buffet for someone's 20th anniversary. Now I get home and I'm tired and wanting to just veg. Plus I saw that there's a half-bag of crunchy Cheetos on the dining room table. Not cool.
Question- Is there anything LIKE green tea that has all the benefits, but without that nasty 'I've just licked an ashtray' kind of flavour? I would love nothing more than to drink it, it's the taste I can't get over!
Well, in this new Halloween weight-loss challenge resolve of mine, I'm going to bed early so I can go to the gym in the morning before work. I love having a 24 gym, but apparently you're not supposed to work out late at night (True?).

They SAY that exercise gets your endorphins flowing (same effect you get from eating chocolate) and gives you more energy. This has never happened to me however lol I'm just dead beat after exercise. And chocolates are a much easier way to get them flowing lol

Yes, you are correct. They (fitness experts and doctors) claim morning exercise is better. This is very true for cardio!! Weights are less about time of day as effort.
1. Cardio wakes up your body and your metabolism. This is great because it helps you burn more calories throughout the day.
2. The endorphin kick can keep you up at night. Also, it's not as beneficial to get cardio exercise, kick up your heartrate and metabolism, and then go to sleep -- you're short-changing yourself!
Of course, this is all relative. If you hit the gym after work at 6pm, and don't usually go to bed until 10 o'clock -- you're doing just fine. It's the cardio - shower - bed routine that will get you.
When I'm in full workout mode, I actually try and get in a workout first thing in the morning (I'm at the gym around 6:30am), and then I try and do some other type of exercise in the afternoon. Walking to the store, bicycling, weights, a cardio DVD, etc. I feel that getting my heartrate up for an hour twice a day just does the much more th help maintain a higher metabolism and heart rate.
keep in mind, this is my first week back at it, so I'm not up to "full workout mode" yet. Right now I'm proud of myself for eating healthy and going to the gym 3 days in a row.

Ok TK, in support of you I have switched from Tims to Dirty's! lol I'm actually following along and working on eating a little better myself. Hard to find the time to excercise right now (this is hardest on me because I enjoy the workout) while taking care of two teens and the little one, but I'll be drafting the older girls to assist while Mom's away since that will be more often now as she will be attached to a ship out of Everett.

I hear ya, JA. It's hard to find the time. I'm trying to get to bed earlier so I can get up in the morning and hit the gym before work. So far, so good -- but it's only been a couple of days. I need to make it through today, then through the week, then through the next week, etc. etc.
Dieting is like joining A.A. You just have to take it one day at a time.
Thanks for the support! I feel ore committed to this when an audience is around.

Bwahahaha! Evil, I say. Actually beer is my biggest downfall. Now that I am getting older I am having to really bump up the workouts to counter act all the beer. No way am I giving up the beer.
TK421, this is a great idea. Earllier this year I started running. I started out running a minute at a time. Now I am running 4 miles and have ran a 5k race and a 4 mile race. I have another 5k coming up in September. I also try to eat healthy a few days a week. I decided completely giving up the food and recipes I love will never work so I am compromising by eating what I like some days still. However there are a lot of thing to eat that are healthy and tasty. I will share some recipes soon. Are any of you runners?

Oh, and there is no way I can give up my coffee either. Coffee and beer are my two biggest downfalls I guess. And all the Halloween treats

Another day, another morning at the gym. I just did treadmill this morning as my whole upper body ached from doing weights yesterday.
I had good success at the birthday dinner last night. Before going to the restaurant I went online and checked out the nutritional facts. Found out a bowl of their vegetable soup was only 150 calories. It comes with some garlic toast (probably another 350 calories) but all-in-all, it was a good dinner and allowed me to stay on target. Plus, it was only $5.95 -- so I saved calories AND money!!
Hope to get some prop building done this afternoon, and maybe a good bicycle ride -- maybe 4-5 miles is all.
Again, thanks for all the support and encouragement. I know this thread is turning into a daily blog of sorts, but I know I'm doing better because people are "in on it", so to speak!

Wow! That sounds fantastic! I am definitely NOT a runner. I can walk for days and days, but I've never enjoyed running. I think you have to be under a certain size to really enjoy running, if you're too big, gravity has to firm a hold of you to make the bouncing and impact of running pleasurable.
I'm built like a defensive tackle. Good for sprints, but not 5Ks.
