Dude I think the word would be "sultry" LMAO as in even at 4am it is 84 with a heat index of 90.. Ahhh august.

Umm you know that saying of fish and house guests? Gettin real near time to go home.. One of my friends who did grow up here, but now lives up by mt dora said, "Oh man you are going down for a week? what for?????"

but at least we got to see grandpa and had a Sunday style italian dinner with the fam..Plus chillin with my cuz and his daughter has been cool. So there has been bonuses as well--

MM poor thing, if its any help my 2009 hasnt been so great either. Air conditioner broke...which in Florida is not an easy or cheap fix, so that was done, younger one needs braces...his mouth is a hot mess so that will be an expense...Older one is off to college soon, expense....Both had Washington DC trips last year. HUMUNGUS EXPENSE that was though well worth it... Washer also went now that I think about it but hubby just ordered a part and that was fixed, small expense. Im just hoping not too much happens expense wise I mean we still have 5 more months left in 2009
Cinders any new finds at the thrift shops??? I did the garage sale thing AGAIN last weekend but no such luck, some weekends are better than others. I have been stopping into homegoods quite often looking for that blasted scaretaker, I go in and I go out...I swear they think I am stealing because I never buy anthing
Moon as for the teenage sons, I have two and right now they are just wearing me down physically and mentally and ofcourse financially. Seems like their energy never ends Oh well as a good friend once told me"They cant stay teenagers forever"
So I had a rough morning, fighting with everyone at home except my Beagle Max...(love my My Mad Max) I am mentally exhausted. think tonight after work I will take a friend to Chillis and have myself a Mango Daquiri...Two or three actually,then maybe I will make my way home, take a shower, find my buddy Max...ignore everyone else and sit outside in my hammack listening to the great outdoor speakers I picked up at a garage sale for 20 bucks. They were brand new and sound fantastic Yep that sounds like a plan. Hoping when I wake up tomorrow all will be much better....but for now....still going to sit here in my office eating my entenmanns popeetes, half the box already....and continue hateing everyone...Just for a wee bit longer. Then back to work

I know I need to get the tooth fixed, but my dentist is darn expensive and won''t let me make payments, wants me to sign up for care credtit, a credit card type thing which I don;'t want to do!! So here I sit for now

We are going to change life insurance.... had to have physicals last night. Amazing how that can add such a stressor to your life !!!!!!!!!!!!! Its over now, (sigh of relief).
Tonight, grocery shop for stuff to make for our class reunion. Then go home and cook. If any of you were closer I would let you punch me for volunteering for this! What was I thinking? At least, friday we are going to a bar for drinks!!!! Then saturday there will be drinks ! LOL I need em!

In work early again today. I am so (*&#(#$(+*&^* !!! far behind it aint funny! So I've been coming in 2 hrs early all this week just to even come close to being caught up.Its all my fault for taking time off. You'd think by now I would hate having time off with all the work it causes me.
That just sucks about the cut backs Pod. Eventually things have got to turn around right ????????

Pod and Spooki Mama: I never made it to the thrift shop on Monday. Worked on my "not-so-shrunken heads" props instead. Might go today in a little while--half-price till noon.

Mrs. M: All appliances suck! Our washer went out in Jan. so we got a new washer/dryer pair and ended up falling for one of those $500 back voucher scams. So I dutifully sent in my grocery receipts for several months, anxiously awaiting my monthly grocery gift cards, only to find out the company went bankrupt. Am I an idiot or what!

Bethene: I hate dental work. All dentists are EVIL.

Lynn: Yeah working with the caterer is fun. Met her through mutual acquaintances and she heard me talking about decorating for Halloween and making some props. She thought I might have some creativity and asked me to work a party but I chickened out and couldn't bring myself to do it. Then the next time when she asked I did, and its been great. Not too much work this year, though.

Glad to hear Brandi's surgery went well.

Ok so today I am down to hateing just one person I would say that is progress

Bethene girl you have got to try another dentist. Sometimes they have payment plans and a new dentist might work with you just to get you as a new patient.

Lynn the speakers work great I love them. I think I may take a break from the garage saleing this weekend Im hoping that blasted scaretaker comes in and I can get him Well maybe I can check on him after the garage sales. I am so glad to hear BW's surgery went okay - hoping we can hear from her soon, but happy to hear any updates at all.

Moon - fish and houseguests, eh?? Any luck on finding some interesting things to do, to keep the kids entertained? Buy him a book on "being an escape artist", tie him up well, and let him figure it out.

Bethene - feel for ya' on the dentistry thing...never a good time for it, but if there was enough decay around the filling to allow it to come out, you may not want to delay too long in seeing someone - there could be bigger problems brewing (found that one out myself a few years ago...lost a filling, and the damage was bad enough for a root canal...funny how calm a dentist can be when they casually inform you they're going to rip nerve tissue out of your tooth now..."you might feel a little pressure"... )

Pod - talk about making lemonade from lemons. But, bonus, I guess, for the week off around Halloween - never seems to be enough time then, so hopefully this year will be epic (week off, and Halloween on a Saturday).
Your company won't let you roll over vacation days from year to year? At least it's paid time off, I guess.

Spooki-Mama - got it down to one person? Far, far better than I've ever managed...
Nice find on the speakers - and good use for them!! Are you going to use them for your haunt as well? Hide them in bushes for ambient sounds, music, whatever?

Lynn - my condolences on the pile 'o work...part of the reason I don't take vacations that often - coming back to having nothing taken care of, can drive one to pulling hair out (your own, or someone elses). Hope that stuff can be tackled quickly...any chance of delegating?

Cinders - any luck on the thrift-store today?

Well, we've started looking into the cost of college textbooks, and it's not looking pretty...
And, of course, the "older" textbooks are not being used this semester, so we have to purchase the latest editions of textbooks.
One has to wonder how a textbook for something like calculus, which is a subject that really doesn't change all that much (tongue planted firmly in cheek), can change twice a year, and the old textbook is suddenly unusable?

...and I just received a call from my pop - a long time friend of his (I was friends with his kids - but not that close) just passed away. He was a year older than my father, and had been battling cancer for a while. Complications finally got the best of him (pneumonia). They're on the east coast, so I don't think my father will be up to traveling alone to go to the funeral. We're going to see if I go out there with him, or if we decide it will be better to stay here, and send sympathies and donations (cancer research).
I could hear the contemplation in my father's voice, when he was telling me this news. It didn't come as a surprise (they knew it was inevitable...just a question of when), but the fact that he and this man were of the same age, same career paths, similar habits...they were a lot alike - and now his friend has succumbed to cancer.
I think he's really having a hard look at his situation right now - I think I feel the winds changing a bit. Going to be a lot of talks with him, i feel, about what he's leaving behind.

Life sure is entropic, eh?
