Good morning folks...
Sometimes I wonder at my own sanity.
Got up at 6am this morning, just so I could beat the sunrise to our local wetlands.
What the hell is wrong with me?
Managed a few pics out of it, however, so even though the cheese may be sliding off my cracker, it did pay off.
Just prior to sunrise in HB:
...and just after...
So, seeing as I'd already run most of the way to the beach, I thought I'd give a pic instead of a surf report (that's the southern end of Catalina Island off in the distance - good visibility today):
And on the way home, saw this blue heron standing in the wetlands...big freakin' bird!!
So, I just had to get pics as well:
Biggest hazard to wandering around by yourself in the morning - idle thoughts.
When the sun came up, it hurt! So, of course, I thought, "so, this is what vampires feel at dawn..."
...which was immediately followed with, "nope. I haven't caught fire yet, so certainly not like a vampire..."
...which spawned the epiphany, "I must be werewolf compared to vampire."
And of course, I then had to think what characteristics make up vampires and werewolves...and where I fall into that.
I was comparing vampires and werewolves in my head - here's a couple comparisons I've found.
Werewolf - impulsive. "Plans? We don't need no steenking plans..."
Vampire - cautious. "I have all the time in the world to enact my plans."
The hunt - werewolf: adaptable - works around the behavior/habits/parameters of the quarry. The hunt is more serendipitous than contrived.
The hunt - vampire: manipulative - sets events into motion to drive the quarry to itself, controls the hunt to suit it's own needs.
I'm pretty certain I'd have to say werewolf for me, moreso than vampire, due to my nature.
Which spawns the question for all of you out there:
Which monster are you?
Vampire?
Werewolf?
Zombie? (I'm not coming over for dinner in that case!!)
Frankensteins' creation?
Creature from the Black Lagoon?
So many choices...which are you?
And if you're willing to say so: why?
(oh, and for reference, this has nothing to do with the "New Moon" or "Twilight" stuff - I've never read those, seen the movies, or much cared for the hype around them)

Not a regular poster here at the "weeklier" (though I do lurk here quite a bit
), but I had to comment....
Joe, you are priceless. I am just so happy to see that I am not the only one who runs around thinking thoughts like those!!! You made me laugh out loud.
And it's vamp all the way, baby

beautiful pics...liked the one with the bird against the sky the most..reminded me of a blue heron we used to get on the farm...
My monster?
I dig the Creature from the Black Lagoon the most, but that's for it's design..it's beautifully done..
Myself..I'm that guy who owns the Shottle Bop store Ted Sturgeon wrote about. The dude who delivers THE MONKEY'S PAW in Spiritism (Espiritismo). The owner of THE RORSHACH SHIRT Bradbury had in one of his stories, the guy who ran the movie theatre in DEATH IS A LONELY BUSINESS. The guy who sees the aliens land in THE INVADERS and can't get anyone to believe him. Lee Van Cleef hearing ZONTAR THE THING FROM VENUS on his radio, but not believing a word this time...I have the book you need, the VHS or 8 track tape you lost, the record you can't find, the quote you want, the answer you're after..and at low low rates...
