Hi Spookilicious Mama! I just love saying that name. You know, we've never actually corresponded before, but I've read threads where you talk about things you like. Everytime I see a sparkly skeleton or some sparkly purple bling I think of you! I do some work for a caterer who likes to decorate for the parties with sparkly things and feathers and purple and bling. I was kind of out of my boring, classic element when I first met her. Now I embrace it all!

Not really. It was weird. The injured boy was standing at the door with the stranger. The other one "the spare" managed to hide around the corner or something to see what kind of reception the "heir" was going to get. I looked passed the stranger and saw about 6 to 8 kids standing on my sidewalk and I didn't recognized ANY of them. I took the bloody one upstairs and the other sneaked in afterward.
It was obvious that the stranger was a father of one or more of the kids standing on the sidewalk but I've never seen him before.

Howdy weekliers!!
Thank you for the birthday wishes! Survived another year.
Moon!!! Thank you for the thread and the wishes and warmth and everything - keeping me smiling!!
As for college textbooks? Those may be one of the worst scams on this planet - many times, the book is written by the professor conducting the class (sometimes not even under a pen-name), other times the professor gets a kickback. Worst of all - the textbooks seem to be re-written 2-3 time a year, and the professor will only accept the latest edition (as for the re-write? Most of the time, it's merely a matter of re-arranging the chapters and an update of the copyright).
Check if there are any previous editions of that textbook available, and see how out of date they are.
Also, and I'm sure you've already checked, but see if there's any state financial aid for textbooks - even though she's on a scholarship, she may qualify for some financial aid as well.
And never rule out student loans - yeah, they're loans, but used wisely, they can go a long way.
Haunt! Good to hear your boys are in one piece still. Agreed that they deserved a grounding - after all, they lied. Strange as it sounds, I'm also glad they're testing their limits (both with authority as well as with the laws of physics). Sometimes the only way to truly learn what one can do is to test it out. Bike crashes, and getting into trouble with mom, are a couple good ways. I'm certain they're wiser on both counts.
BW - hugs back and thank you!! Today another mental health day? Or at work? Or is this the weekend? (as in, does yours start on Friday?)
Spooki-mama - thank you! Good to have you in here - always fun to get some new blood to keep these folks talking.
There was a time when this thread would get ludicrously long within a week (hence the name "Weekly" - we'd have to start a new one each week)...if we keep at it, we can get it there again!
Annea - sorry for the W induced headache...sometimes things like that just have to crawl out of my head onto the screen.
Barbarella - yeah, going for the small dogs. The dog doors I have in the house are small, so no big dogs, or they'd get stuck. (I believe in dog-doors...it gives them a little more independence with the house).
Highland games sound like fun! I've never gone to watch, but they look interesting from what I've seen!
Good luck with the cleaning for company, Pod! Hope the guests are welcome ones.
Bethene - did you get to wander any cemeteries?
Cinders - good to see you in the Weekly again! If it gets to be too many pages, just jump in and ignore the old stuff - people will always be happy to fill you in on what you've missed.
MM - thank you!
Hope I got everyone...wish I had a better memory...that, and better timing...
Wonder if a timing belt is any good at holding your pants up?
Or would it let them fall at just the right time? Or exact wrong time?
Would replacing your timing belt make your pants fit better?
I think that's better regulated by the timing of the snacks...late night snacks go right to the beltline...
Sooo...I need a new snack-timing-belt...Hell is an eternity of getting up at 4am to nothing but decaf coffee...

Cinders, I sorta met you thru secret reaper and the card exchange, but nice to met you !
Haunti, got a chuckle outta your boys, I have one, grown now, but like spooki says, boys will be boys, there was a period of time, when he was always doing crazy stuff, it is surprising he is fine today!
Hope every one is doing well, and has a great week end!

Linus: You've heard about fury and a woman scorned?
Charlie Brown: Yes, I guess I have.
Linus: Well that is nothing compared to the fury of a woman who has been cheated out of tricks or treats!

Friday- yay! Ooops... Saturday, now I guess. Just got back from the Highland Games, it was pretty fun. Not a whole lot going on there today; all the vendors were there, and several pipe bands, and at the end of the night there was a big tattoo. Best part was some of the guys (and one of the women) competing in the actual heavy events tomorrow came to give a demonstration of the hammer throw and caber toss (which is the size of a telephone pole!!)
Very cool, good times had... now I get to sleep for 5 hrs then go to work... *yawn*

Howdy weekliers - happy Sunday!
Sometimes I'm just amazed at how quickly the post office can move mail...other times it seems as if they've all gone on a long vacation.
I sent off for a copy of transcripts from a local college at which I had taken a couple classes...put them in the drop box at the post office at 4:30 in the afternoon on Thursday (the 6th) - received the transcripts yesterday in my mailbox (the 8th).
Which means, it made it to the college in a day, who put the transcripts back in the mail the same day, and I received them on the next day.
I'm just speechless at how efficient everyone was - especially the post office.
(was good to see I had managed 4.0 in all the classes I had taken - every little boost to the GPA helps)
Had a good birthday - did absolutely NOTHING productive, and didn't feel a bit guilty about it.
Woke up...went to the gym...came home and vegged in front of the TV...took the family to the local $3 theater to see "UP" (kids are really too old for that stuff, so never took them when it was in the big theaters - but at $3 a person, this theater is great!) - cute movie...we all had a good time.
One gift was a dozen bratwurst for me to grill up - and yes, I was happy to be the one having to cook them, even on my birthday. I lllloooooovvve bratwurst, and we rarely get them - makes the times we do have them all that more special. Had some leftovers, and packed a couple up for my pop...he rarely gets them either, so I thought he'd like a tasty treat without having to mess around with all the cooking and cleaning (pop turns 80 this year, so I do what I can to simplify things for him...even if it's not much).
Hope everyone's well, and having a good weekend - I have yardwork I'm ignoring...my roses are flourishing, and need trimming soon...petals everywhere...have some ivy trying to take over more of the yard...my aloe is overgrown...a wasps nest to take out...but the neighbors love the color and greenery, so they say, so I guess it's worth it having chaos for a garden...Hell is an eternity of getting up at 4am to nothing but decaf coffee...
