If you had purchased $1,000.00 of Delta Air Line stock one year ago you would have $49.00 left.

With Enron, You would have $16.50 left of the original $1,000.00

With WorldCom, you would have less than $5.00 left.

But, if you had purchased $1,000.00 worth of Beer one year ago, drank all the beer, then turned in the cans for the aluminum recycling Refund, you would have $214.00 Cash.

Based on the above, the best current investment advice is to drink heavily and recycle. It is call the 401-Keg.

A recent study found that the average American walks about 900 miles a year. Another study found that Americans drink, on the average, 22 gallons of alcohol a year. That means on average Americans get about 41 miles per gallon.

Makes you Proud to be an American!

here I'll show ya something even more depressing LOL I got this in email

    politicly incorrect---ya think?????

How many zeros in a billion?

The next time you hear a politician use the word 'billion' in a casual manner, think about whether you want the 'politicians' spending YOUR tax money.
A billion is a difficult number to comprehend, but one advertising agency did a good job ofputting that figure into some perspective in one of its releases.

    A.
A billion seconds ago it was 1959.

    B.
A billion minutes ago Jesus was alive.

    C .
A billion hours ago our ancestors were living in the Stone Age.

    D.
A billion days ago no-one walked on the earth on two feet.

    E.
A billion dollars ago was only 8 hours and 20 minutes, at the rate our government is spending it.

While this thought is still fresh in our brain, let's take a look at New Orleans. It's amazing what you can learn with some simple division.

Louisiana Senator, Mary Landrieu(D), is presently asking the Congress for$250 BILLIONto rebuild New Orleans . Interesting number, what does it mean?

    A.
Well, if you are one of 484,674 residents of New Orleans, (every man, woman, child)
    you each get$516,528.

    B.
Or, if you have one of the 188,251 homes in New Orleans , your home gets $1,329,787.

    C.
Or, if you are a family of four, your family gets $2,066,012.

    Washington, D.C.
    HELLO!
    Are all your calculators broken??

Very thorough Moon. There's one politician who is saying he's going to cut taxes for 95% of Americans. He says this is good for the economy. Then he says he may suspend his tax proposals because of how it would affect the economy. My head is spinning! He also plans to increase taxes on business. I would love for someone to ask him if he thinks the businesses will pass the increased cost onto consumers, lay off workers or if he thinks they will just eat it.

BD, yea that is like my electric bill going up 60.00 in one month for a 'rate increase' from progress energy--I am sure they did this to give their employees a cost of living raise, right?

    (MooN is very sarcastic )

Probably not, but it is entirely possible the increase is to cover the cost of new eco-friendly upgrades mandated by law. Gasoline costs a lot more in California because of taxes and higher environmental standards.

We battened down the budgetary hatches in our house a long time ago. Fortunately, hubby's profession is fairly recession-proof and we have options. Plus we're not paying a big honkin' mortgage and/or have children and loads of credit cards.

To quote Jack Nicholson in Batman "This town needs an enema" so perhaps (naively maybe), some good will come of it all. The attitude of entitlement and culture of blame will be cured.

    What hopes eh?

    State Unemployment Tax (SUTA),
If you are unemployed….how does that work…
IRS Interest Charges (tax on top of tax),
IRS Penalties (tax on top of tax),
The IRS… don’t they take a chunk of that paycheck thing anyhow? And have taxes paid yearly to them…
Federal Income Tax Federal Unemployment Tax (FUTA)
Telephone Federal Universal Service Fee Tax,
Telephone Federal, State and Local Surcharge Tax,
    Telephone Federal Excise Tax
Things marked federal…does that mean they are taxes put up nationally or things used federally that the Govt. is having us pay for…?
Telephone Recurring and Non-recurring Charges Tax
    Telephone State and Local Tax
    Telephone Usage Charge Tax
    Telephone Minimum Usage
Why are there 7 different phone taxes?

if someone could explain this that would be great!
i know i should probably know this but i dont.... so i need it explained....

Our current state of affairs is due to those currently in office.
One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one president, and nine Supreme Court justices.
These are the people that are solely and totally responsible for our current economy, foreign policy, taxes, etc.

    Not We, The People.

These people vote and decide how we, as a people, as a union, will proceed.
They make and approve our budget.
    They set our federal taxes.
    They spend our money.

    Not We, The People.

If you're dissatisfied with the current state of affairs in our country, you can run for these offices as well - or, at the very minimum, make what difference you can with your vote.
Don't take the lazy way out, and just re-vote the existing representatives back into office - look at who's running, and vote for someone who may make a difference.

Don't listen to the excuses of Congress, the House, and the Oval Office - they are responsible...not the bureaucrats that they hire and fire.

Vote. Make whatever difference you can. If you don't, then don't complain when you don't like results.
Hell is an eternity of getting up at 4am to nothing but decaf coffee...

2009 photos and 2008 photos ...uhmmm...and what I have evolving...
