We all know most of the common superstitions.....ladders, black cats and
such, but have you ever heard any really strange ones? I read one the
other day that said shark victims gather in the clouds of an approaching
storm. I also heard that iron will repell an evil spirit. What superstitions
have you heard?

unless it is an Egyptian spirit, where iron is associated with the underworld

My Mom always told us it's bad luck to put shoes on a table (not to mention it's just gross)

I think it was my dad that told me that if I played with my navel, it would grow real big. Don't know if that would be considered a superstition. I guess if he believed it. I did.

A red bird that startles you, lands briefly and flies away is a sign of an impending death in the family.

A plain gold wedding band dropped into a glass (not plastic) tumbler of water can show show the future. Drop the ring into the tumbler so that it lies flat on the bottom of the tumbler and then view the sun through the center of the tumbler.

seeing 13 crows together meaning death is near, saluting a magpie for good luck, knives wtith their blades facing upwards brings bad luck because it can cut the spirits, crossing people on a staircase is also bad luck. If theres logic to any of them i can't see it!

One weird superstition I heard from my friend last time was about biting your tongue when you wanna steer clear of creepy and ferocious dogs.

I don't know what's the origin of that belief, but I think it's not gonna hurt if we're gonna do as told.

If you have a wart take a corn cob and rub it on the wart and throw it over your shoulder and dont look back and it will go away. I have a couple small warts on hand but i have never tried.

If you break a mirror dont touch the pieces for 7 hours. I do this one.

My great grandpa used to when he saw a black cat is tug on his ear. I see a black cat i will do a gig and turn around and find another route. Theres a black cat been hanging around my house lately and crapping in my front yard and i swear he brought me a bad streak of luck. lets just say i do lots of gigs everytime i see him my neighbors must think im nuts but....

Drive nails at the 4 corners of your property in the ground for protection and around your door ways. Now i dont know if this works or not but i do it anyway.

I believe in all of it if someone told me to eat a tablespoon of mustard a day for good luck id do it
