    so imagine that its 5am.
    for me that's usually bedtime
so i'm getting ready for bed and my cat is looking at the wall funny
then i hear what she hears, somethings out on the back porch
i figure its the stray cat we feed from time to time
so i got to the back door and turn in the porch light.
    expecting to see a cat
instead i see some thing else entirely.
    Raccoons
yes plural because there were 2 of them.
see raccoons have been raiding my back porch to get the cat food left out for the stray every now and again.
only this time the porch door leading to the outside was mostly closed, and they had yet to realize i knew they were there.
so, bare foot, i dashed out the front door and around the house and pushed the back door closed tight.
the raccoons panicked and one eventually ended up climbing the door itself
it was obvious they were terrified, but i wanted them away from the house
so my dad and i managed to get them into a metal trash can, (improvised live trap) and used bungie cords to hold the lid down,
we drove them out to a nice section of woods pretty far from the house and well outside of town and let them go

so i had quite the exciting morning. felt like sharing it with you, my forum friends

I've haven't seen a racoon, but I have seen 10-15 deer! Adults and babies! They won't let you get near them, but they're not
afraid of you. Then there's the wild turkeys! Last count was 25. Mamma turkeys with a dozen babies! I seen a fox twice. I
whistled at it and it stopped and gave me a "Well? What do you want?" look for a minute or two then kept moving! Wild rabbits.
You can just about walk up on them before they move! Great big hawks! One Sunday a car hit a deer in front of the house and
it died in the front yard! The city wouldn't pick it up till Monday and I had to put a sheet over it because the yard was getting full
of buzzards! Big suckers too! They're ugly birds up close! Funny thing is, we never seen any wild animals in the yard when I was
growing up, now you see them 3 or 4 times a week! We figure they've learned where there's people there's food, gardens and
such. Or they know hunters can't shoot at them in the city limits!
I never get MAD, I get EVEN! Pray I only get MAD!

That's one heck of a way to spend your time before bed! Glad to hear you guys took them out to the woods and let them go.

Oh no! Raccoons love cat food. I used to feed my cat outside when he wasn't allowed in and the raccoons would always come and eat it. Eventually when kitty was allowed in, I just left the food outside for the raccoons. I think they are so cute but they are not very nice, I've heard. What a way to spend a morning!
