I know that you wanted to name it Salem, but Bella is a great alternative and still Halloween oriented name. The most famous vampire of all time has that name. Bela Lugosi played Dracula in the most famous of the roles and most people now change the spelling of that to Bella so take heartBtw my Bird is named Bela
although your Bella would most like to meet mine it's probably not a great idea :P

Oh dear lord, that cat is ADORABLE!! Me so LOVVVVES kitties. Okay, I would tell you to get Cats for Dummies out of the library. It has a lot about cat behaviour and I'm sure there's something in there about introducing a new kitty. I read it, but it's been awhile and I don't remember. Let us know how it goes. And post more pics!!!!!

what a precious kittie!!I think it is awesome you resured her. The getting them used to each others scent is a good idea, I have used it many times, must admit though that I didn't leave them seperated for that much time, but do go slow and never force the issue, they will learn to deal with each other in their own time , once your older cat gets used to her, they'll most likely be best buddies!
I have flying monkeys- and I'm not afraid to use them!

What a cutie! I lurves tuxedo cats... Heck, I love all the kittehs (got 3 myself).
I agree that total separation at first is a good idea. Let them visit under the door and get used to each others' smell, then progress to short supervised visits. We adopted a new cat twice to add to our original 2 adoptees, and each time we made sure the new cat had their own space and toys and water dish and food dish (you get the idea) at first. I don't think we ever had to go longer than 3 weeks before we could integrate the new kitty completely.
Another reason for total separation at first is quarantine. It's best to assume that any kitty that you take from a shelter or rescue organization may have something communicable, even if it's only a couple fleas. I always got our new additions tested by MY vet regardless of the "bill of health" provided at adoption. That way, if s/he had something, we could get it diagnosed and treated before s/he could give it to the others.Gothikim
