    Hey guys,

I don't get to this board very much, but guess what I found at the local (Toledo, Ohio) Big Lots today? A fully remastered (by MGM, no less) DVD of The Ghoul (1933), starring Boris Karloff. I used to have a VHS tape that looked like the film had been shot on a Xerox copier. This DVD image is probably better than the one the producers at Gaumont-British saw when they reviewed it for release back in '33. Big Lots had several other titles - I picked up The Dunwich Horror (1970) - all for $3.00 a pop!

Of course there's no telling what's available at your local Big Lotses, but I thought it was worth it to send out a head's-up.

No promises, but you never know what you may find. I once stumbled upon the Tales of Frankenstein pilot that featured Don Megowan as the Monster at a dollar store. Plus, those el cheapo vids make great Halloween party favors.

I love Big Lots for that very reason! Same with Ross or Marshalls. They always have great cheap dvds. I recently purchased an entire Dragon Ball Z series complete with lost episodes for less than $25 for my husband with each individual dvd ranging from $1.99-3.99. The retail price for the series is about $50.00 without the lost episodes. So I scored big time and my husband was happy about it too

btw thanks for the suggestion of using those dollar dvds for party favors, as I am having a T.V. & Movie themed Halloween party this year and they seem just the favor for this party!!!!! I'm using those campy red and white popcorn bags from the dollar store to hold the goodies, but wasn't exactly sure what to put in each. Those dvds are an excellent choice!!!

Yes, my local Big Lots just got a bunch of $3 movies too, mostly good MGM releases, including The Fog (1979), Thunderbirds are GO, Jack the Giant Killer...all sorts of horror, fantasy and science fiction titles are in there amongst action films, thrillers and whatnot. Every store seems to have a different assortment of these, so check your store out if you can.

Those dollar stores are great around Halloween time, they usually have cheap public domain horror films that do make great party favors, or nice freebies to stuff into your Ebay packages if you sell on Ebay.

Target has had dollar DVDs around Halloween time, and I think last year they had an after Halloween sale that was 75% off, so quick shoppers could grab those DVDs for 25 cents a pop...
    "WHAT'S out there?"

"I don't know.......it was little and brown, and low to the ground!"
