Thread: We got bad news yesterday

My mom who had breast cancer, mastectomy, chemo, radiation the whole schmeer in 2005 found out yesterday that it has come back. We go see the radiation oncologist tomorrow to see what the prognosis is, but with it in both humorous bones and ribs I don't think it's going to be good.

Backstory. Mid April 2005 mom diagnosed with breast cancer. 2 weeks later her husband was diagnosed with mouth cancer. She got out of the hospital from surgery on Mother's day. His was inoperable. She started chemo, he started radiation and chemo, my husband and I were running them back and forth to doctors and treatments for 3 months. He died mid September, mom started radiation in November. She finished up radiation in February 2006. A PET scan in late 2006 or early 2007 showed no cancer. 3 weeks ago she went to the doctor because of pain in her shoulder. Xray showed something in the bone. Went to her cancer surgeon last Monday, PET scan Thursday, diagnosed yesterday. Hubby's stepmom had breast cancer twice 10 years ago. In October 2006 the cancer came back in her lungs. By the time it was diagnosed it was the size of Hubby's fist. She died 12/31/2006.

Oh man, maleficent, your family has endured such hardships over this disease...my heart goes out to your Mom for how strong she has been and all that she's gone through--I wish very much that it hadn't come back...your family's support and love for her will be the very best therapy she could have right now, and we will be here for you. You guys will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Mal girl, I am so truly sorry to hear about this. You and your mom will be in my prayers. I know how stressful these times can be. I've dealt with this with members of my family. Try and be strong for her and dont hesitate to look to God for strength, even if you have to get on your knees to ask. We're all here for you Mal.
