I NEVER thought I'd say this about an Indiana Jones movie, ever. What. A. Piece. Of. Crap. Seriously. I was telling OEJ about it and I said it was so bad when the credits started to roll, I had tears in my eyes. Then he asks "Did you Cry?" So I said "Does tearing up count?" He said "Yes." I said "Then yes. I cried." We waited what, 20 years for this?![]()
I thought the premise was just awful and having it take place in the 50s. I thought it was getting too modern. I know time moves on, blah, blah. But I've always liked the feel of the 30s and 40s better anyway. Cate Blanchett, who is usually awesome, was totally wasted in this. I heard she was in this and it was like.......Harrison Ford and Cate Blanchett in the same movie, schwing. I was ecstatic to see Karen Allen back and her part was so badly written. *sigh* I watched 27 Dresses and OEJ asks was it better than Indiana Jones and I said "Sadly, yes." oy. Yes, I like my girly movies once in awhile.
And while I'm bitching and complaining.........I just watched 30 Days of Night. It was okay, really freaky and creepy, but I was a little disappointed the vampires, weren't all vampiry. They were like vampire/zombie hybrids. Which would have been okay had I known. I thought it was a straight vampire flick so I was a little taken aback. And there was a point I almost laughed out loud because the way the vampires were talking. I swear sometimes they sounded like Starvin' Marvin from South Park. And the ending............daaaaaaaaaaaaah. When I was in high school and Jr. High, I wrote stories all the time, always writing. And I've loved vampires ever since I can remember so naturally they were subjects for a couple of my stories and I swear, I'm not making this up, I wrote practically the exact same ending 20 years ago. I was sitting here thinking "Dammit, who did I let read that when I was in school?" ah well.
So yeah, I need a job so I don't have time to watch all of these crappy movies. oy.

I didn't like it either. I thought the plot sucked and was not very Indiana Jones-ish at all.

Ya know, I was concerned when I read the interview with Lucas that said:
"We’re only going to get aggravation. The fans think it’s going to be the Second Coming. And it’s not the Second Coming. They’ve already written the story in their heads, and let me tell ya, it’s not that story. So they’re going to be very disappointed. I went through this with The Phantom Menace. . . I know exactly how they react. And they’re very vocal about these things. We’re not gonna have adoring fans sending us emails about how much they loved the movie. We’re gonna have a bunch of angry people saying ‘You bunch of assholes, you should never have done this. You’ve ruined my life forever. I loved Indiana Jones so much and now it’s ruined.” All that kind of stuff.”

As PinkRaygun said, "George Lucas stops trying..." and wrote a nice little article about it. George Lucas Stops Trying

I enjoyed it, but I didn't like it.
George Lucas and Spielberg once again ruin something by trying to use CGI entirely too much. At least we didn't see JarJar Binks.
It was easily the worst of the 4 movies, but will still make $300MM.

I loved the new Jones. The plot tied in the supernatural elements that the other movies had.. and yes time does move on. Ford is a bit too old for it to have still taken place in the 30's. The only scene in which I think it was a bit over done was the monkey scene. There could have been one instead of a hundred. But other than that I thought it had the familiar feel of the other 3. And I can't wait for the 4 Blu-ray Box Set.. because you KNOW there will be one!

How 'bout the refrigerator flight scene? Little unbelieveable too. :-) And those ants were some pretty freakin' strong ants. ;-) One part I thought was hilarious though, is when Indy needed help in one situation and yelled for Marion and Mud to tell him to 'grab the 'rope'!' Hahahaha! That was funny!

Hmmm... Maybe I'll wait for it to come out on DVD and save the $30 I was going to spend seeing it today.

the crystal skulls were debunked a few years ago, and were a bad thing to try and have indy involved with.
i personally don't think Indiana Jones and instantly connect it to aliens building ancient civilizations
my brother called it The Mummy meets The X-files...somewhere in the north-woods darkness, a creature walks upright.
And the best advice you may ever get is never to go out…at night.

You just can't take Indiana Jones movies too seriously. I expected it to be far fetched and enjoyed watching what appears to be the changing of the guard for future chapters of the Jones boys adventures. Indiana will retire and you can bet the next generation is set and ready to roll. It was entertaining in a brainless kind of way.

I don't expect a lot from Indiana Jones movies. I do expect a rolicking good time though, like in the old days. I thought it was so bad, it wasn't even fun. Tears, I tell you!! I'm not a big nit picker with movies, well sometimes, but usually not and I grew up with Indiana Jones, I'm just.....*sniffle* I can't go on.
heh.
