Well, I spent the last two days trying to remove a nasty trojan that my antivirus program missed (Eset security) and then after successfully killing it my HD goes and crashes---hard. I opened it up and found the little magentic reading heads broken.

I lost 40+ gigs of data---all my music, pics, links, documents, emails...you name it.

I had just started backing up too since the trojan thing scared me, but in hind sight I didn't get the stuff that really mattered to me.

I'm on my "back-up" computer now---this one I use to run my CNC router.

Probably gonna spend the weekend setting my main comp back up.

Ok, felt like venting....thanks for reading.

There are data recovery services you can use, although it will cost. You can probably get all or most of your data back. Here is one I know about.

Savemybutt.com - Computer Help For The Novice In All Of Us...

Here, it is done by computer expert Mike DiMichele of Alliance Information Technology Solutions. Whether it is worth it depends on how important the data is to you.
Abandon hope all ye who enter here.
