Lynn, my condolences on the loss of your friend.
As far as body image issues go, I guess I have gotten old enough that I'm not as concerned with how my body looks as I am about how well it functions. Boy, I really must be getting old!!!
Or maybe it's the nurse in me, I see people all the time who are disabled in some way and I am just grateful that all my parts still work! (Without too much trouble)

Moon, happy mothers day to you too!! Wednesday's going to the prom, it'll be fun, they do look so grown up all dressed up like that, And I love the picture you posted, what a precious picture!!
MHooch, boy, I sure do get the how it functions part. At work, on my particular job, there are 4 of us doing it, and the other 3 are 20, 26, and 32. We are doing a very physical job, I can really see the age difference in it, they act tired, etc. and I try to tell them they ain't seen nothing yet, but I guess you have to live it to believe it, cuz they look at me like I am nuts! But seriously, I am thankful for how I am doing right now, a few years ago my RA was really acting up, couldn't lift my arms, my foot was twisted and I was walking with bone on bone in my ankle, thanks to a wonderful surgeon, and my RA doc, and the blessing of meds, I am doing so much better.I have flying monkeys- and I'm not afraid to use them!

Good for you Bethene !!! I really am very lucky, so far I have no real issues.
Glad to hear the RA is under control !
Moon, I hear ya on the growing up thing. Where does the time go ? One minute they are babies, next they are going to prom !
Thanks everyone one for the thoughts ! I'm throwing them over to my husband who is having a hard time with this..... They were friends since grad school. I only knew him the last couple years.
Tonight is our next haunted house meeting ! woohoo ! Something to keep me occupied !!
Then tomorrow I get to have my granddaughter.. and my bestfriend is coming over to work on severed heads !!! hehehe that sounds funny, but it will be fun !
I may have to make a trip to the hospital to see my BIL....Bad thing is the hospital is 2 hrs away. He had his first skin graft yesterday and while in recovery, he has a bad heart attack ! He is now doing better but there is a balancing act between treating the heart and protecting the skin graft ! He also has developed diabetes while there.... a common complication with this I guess. The shock to the body causes it to produce more sugar. What a roller coaster !@!!
