anyone remember those model kits that had moving parts that ran off of rubber bands.
I remember having a pirate skelton that popped out of something and stabbed a map where it was marked with an X
another was a mummy that changed to a corps or something like that.
anyone remember these or the name of the company or anything about them?

There were two types that I recall...probably there were more, but there were:
1. Disney Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Caribbean model kits...with "ZAP ACTION!" featuring hinged parts that moved, powered by a rubber band. Generally there was a switch to make it go, and then you reset it.
2. "Strange Change" model kits featured different themes, usually involving some sort of monster--there was a time machine, and a mummy or vampire in a coffin (or both?). You would close the door/lid and open it again, to view the magical "change" that had occurred (powered by rubber bands). This is not to be confused with the "Strange Change Machine" from the 60's which was a different toy."WHAT'S out there?"
"I don't know.......it was little and brown, and low to the ground!"

Holy Crap! I had the exact same toy... The skeleton pirate that would stab the map. Man, what a flashback. I have not thought of that for 30 something years.
I've gotten into building the old Aurora models over the past 3 years. So far I have done Hunchback, Bride of Frankenstein, Forgotten Prisoner, Godzilla, Phantom of the Opera, Creature from the Black Lagoon, The Witch, Dracula, Wolfman, Land of the Giants, Dr. Jeykl and I just bought the Mummy on Ebay and cannot wait to build it.
