So this evening my best friend of 27 years who lives in FL called and invited me down for an all-expenses paid week vacation at her house (I'd be riding down with her stepmom who is going down for a week)...Anyways, I know this vacation would include lots of beach time (Mmmmmmm!!) and relaxation--but I don't know if I can do it! My sons are 4 & 1/2 and I've never been away from them..and I'd be leaving the house to be run by my husband for 7 days, EEEK! I've NEVER been on a vacation by myself, ever...Hmmmmm, what to do, what to do.....

Oh come on, 4 1/2 is plenty old enough to take care of dad! He'll be fine! Give yourself what I'm sure is a well deserved break.

7 days seems a little long.... BUT... free is free.

If your concern is leaving dad with kids, I have done it now for 2 weeks and I'm an old pro. We knuckle draggers can figure it out. ;-) UGH OOG OONGOWA DEESHWASHER KLEEN.

When I would go on biz trips a week or longer, I would fly the wife out on Friday and have her stay over the weekend. She went to visit friends in Nebraska for a few days last year because...uh... well, I had no desire to go to Nebraska. ;-)

You gotta do it! Take a break and have some carefree fun with your friend. I'm sure your husband can work through it. It might be tough the first day or two, but he'll be fine. Just imagine how happy he'll be to see you when you get back! You need a mental break from your man and kids. I'm sure you'll miss them terribly, but you need to seize the opportunity. If you don't, you might regret it.

More importantly, WE'RE gonna miss you! Maybe not as much as your husband who will be watching two young kids in your absence, but almost as much.

Sometimes we Moms think we are the only ones qualified to take care of the kids...but believe me, our hubby's can do an excellent job. Think of this as a male bonding time for your hubby and the boys. Give yourself a break, you deserve it and the family will be just fine without you for a week.

You guys are really making me lean toward going here, I knew this was a good idea to talk with y'all--just by myself, I would've probably talked me out of it by now (and my friend already told me last night, 'Well I know you won't do this, but...'--I think she's daring me)... :-) Yeah, I have good faith my hubby could definitely handle the job, although I'm not too sure how well different food groups would be represented in the kids' meals. ;-) I'd miss them for sure, but they say absence makes the heart grow fonder, right? And it would be good bonding time for them.

Have I ever said how much you guys rock?? :-)

Oh, I think you should totally GO FOR IT! Most definitely. Could be a really good thing.
    "WHAT'S out there?"
