Okay after some problems this past year I have sworn off magnetic tape. So i am wondering if anyone has purchased a digital video camera in the last year and what you think of it. We are trying to stay away from DVD camera's but would still be interested in what you thought of one.

What price range are you looking at?

One of the Panasonic consumer grade 3CCD cameras would be good. They have several different price points, all under $1000. Best Buy and Circuit City normally carry them.

Panasonic SDR-H18 HDD here. I love ours, the only gripe is lack of a light or night shot. It has a low light feature that is pretty bad. The software it comes with also bites. Otherwise, I love it. At my price range, it came down to this unit or a JVC and ultimately chose this one.
I paid $411 for it, but apparently it is way up in price right now. Look for a sale.
One thing to consider is just getting a nice digital camera and buying a huge SD card (or whatever card it takes) and using it for video. My brother and many others don't even have video cameras now.

Wilbret, unless something new has came out lately, I think it's pretty standard for consumer grade cameras to have either a crappy low light feature or none at all.

HDD = Hard Disc Drive
All the manufacturers make HDD cameras now at varying levels of quality.
Don't buy the HDD camera looking for the best quality picture, it's not there yet. Buy it for convenience of transfer and editing. And to be uber cool like me.
