I am most likely about to accept a job in Alpharetta, but I have not lived in Atlanta since 1999.

Any tips on what direction we need to be looking for homes? My wife is an elementary teacher and we want a house with a yard... so if you know of safe areas with good schools, please shout out.

    Thanks so much!

not too sure as i don't live in georgia...but i stayed in marietta for a week one time with some friends and it was one of the lovliest towns that i've ever been to and it's just a hop, skip, and a jump from the big city.

My Grandmother used to live in Marietta(born, raised, two kids)...and since Alpharetta is the suburbs...http://www.relohomesearch.com/NorthA...lpharetta.aspx

Decided to hold off on coastal or mountainous towns for a while then, eh? Good luck on finding a great new place for your family! Alpharetta is far enough out from Atlanta to be a lot quieter, safer, & more lowkey. Certainly mean no offense to the Atlanta folks though. :-)

I didn't decide to hold off, it held off on me.

The job in NC panned out to be less than I had hoped, and with no relocation offered. The Alpharetta job is backup #1. I am tempted to suck it up and keep looking, but man... I need and want to be earning an income again.

It is a great offer with a good company, but I am bummed about moving to Atlanta and not the coast.

Profession? I knew I should have focused on something!!

Product Management and/or Strategic Marketing (which is essentially the same thing as Product Management, just on a macro or company level). Basically, I research stuff, write a plan, politic for support, execute it, and measure results, and politic some more. That's the 30,000 foot view of the job, at ground level there are a thousand functions being performed... so it's a very broad job.

The question I have is, how long do you pass up opportunities while waiting on your 'dream' job? (Which, for us, means moving to a coastal area)
