I leanred today that my company will be "downsizing" my position. As of Jan 1st I am unemployed.
I have decided to cancel Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christams due to unknown funds availablity.
I have also simply decided to cease and decest all decorating activity for any holiday from now on.
I wish to thank everyone for the fun I have had on this board. The friendships I have made and the coversations and advice. But unfortuneately expenses will have to be cut and the internet will be one of them.
I hope you all have a very happy and safe Halloween this year and for many more to come.
This is Shadojack signing off.
Goodbye.

I'm very sorry to hear that, Shadojack, especially as one who went through it myself last January. At least you were given notice, mine was go into work one day and get laid off permanently.
Right now, you're upset, worried about the future and more. But don't give up on holidays yet. Or maybe I should say, don't give up on life as yet. There is life after layoff, and you might find this is for the best. Take a deep breath, collect unemployment, and remember, celebrating the holidays doesn't need to cost a lot.
And hey, you almost need an internet connection to find a job. The help wanted ads in the paper don't quite cut it anymore. It (the internet) is how I found my current job.
Good luck!

That sucks Shadow. I've been thru it too, not fun. The un-known scares the hell out of me.
Stay positive and best wishes on getting an even better job. Hope to see you back around soon.
PS. Don't completely shut out the idea of celebrating the holidays. To date the best Christmas I had was the year my family decided not to exchange gifts and spend Christmas eve assisting the church serve a charity meal. It was a very humbling & fullfilling experience.

Plus you can most likely use the library computer just to pop in and say hi or whatever!

You beat me to it.Plus you can most likely use the library computer just to pop in and say hi or whatever!
Also, there are budget internet carriers out there. Example... up here in Ontario I heard you can get 56K dailup (which is all you need to posting on forums) for $3 month + tx.

Oh man, I'm really sorry to hear that Shadojack. Hopefully something better will come along very soon so you'll be back to your old, fiercely haunting self and able to post again! Best of luck to you and your family!

I am SO sorry, shadowjack, I can't add any more than what is already posted, they basically said what I thought. Good luck with the new job search, and do pop by to let us know how you are doing, even if it is going to the library every so often to check in.
I have flying monkeys- and I'm not afraid to use them!
