its truth, in my world history major class, we learnt all about it,[world history from the beginning of recorded history till thje 21 centyry] my professer told us that this song was used as a childs song to calm the children down and have them not think that they might be dead the next day. I wish I took notes lol

The OMSI Museum did an exhibit on diseases. They covered the plague and claimed that the rhyme was about the plague. Wouldn't it be funny to find out that the museum was wrong?

    So much for their credibility!

I reckon it makes sense but I was still rather surprised...Has anyone ever heard of this?
Did you also know that "The Dance Macobre" was made represent the "Black Death"? I learned that while I was trying to find the composer of the peice.

I've heard the Ring-around-the-Rosie story (should be noted that here in Canada we say "hush-a, hush-a, we all fall down" at the end. And in the version I heard, the "hush-a" part is because people lost their voices right before dying from the plague. LOL. I think that maybe with so many different versions around, it is just an urban legend that people have repeated/taught without finding credible sources.

My social teacher told me and the rest of the class that it's about the black plague. The guy is an encyclopedia of trivial information like that and is rarely wrong.

I was taught this meaning, too, but I guess it's a common myth.

EDIT: Haha, just noticed the age of this thread
