Just noticed the site now has 4002 members. I half paid attention to the numbers a few days ago, but hitting 4K today is a pretty impressive milestone!
Now to just get them all posting!

4000 is a great accomplishment and HalloweenForum should be very proud!
I do see a large amount that have never posted, so some may not still be current.
One forum I post on deletes membership after 6 months of no posts.

I belong to a few other hobby forums and have moderated on a couple in the past, including one with about 25000 members. I'm all in favor of members being deleted if they have no posts after 6 months. I think some boards like the impressive numbers, but IMO, a smaller active community is preferable. My observation is that about one fourth of any boards members never even post after joining, so why not just remove them. If they're truly interested, they'll re-register.

Congrats to Larry for building such an impressive membership. Larry's constant attention to detail, and his ability to upgrade and improve the forum to meet the member's needs has always insured that once you sign up here, and are a serious Halloween/haunt freak, you stay. Not to take away from those critical facts, but it's the name that will always draw in the most members. If you're searching google for halloween and a forum, it's going to hit on this one.
I know that other forums software show not only registered members, but active ones as well. Active being having signed in within 30 days regardless of posting. I take that as a much more accurate measure of a forums true membership. I also would like to see members deleted after say a 60 day non-check in status on every forum. That would free up screen names, and give a true picture of the membership.

I know I was a lurker for quite a while before posting anything. Especially when it's a site where you get ideas. Never thought I had much to contribute. Sometimes it's a little intimidating to post on a thread where the other people have 1,000 posts. I'm getting better about it though. I just bet there are a lot of lurkers. Probably lurking at this thread right now.........

I met a Halloweenforum.com lurker today at Big Lots! I was in the Halloween section when a couple began rummaging through the goods too. They were really enthusiastic about the props as I was so I asked them if they post on this forum and one of them said that she lurks here. It was nice meeting someone in person who uses this forum. : )

Thanks for the very kind words! I very much appreciate it.
I choose to not purge the membership data as some people only have time to visit during Halloween. I have had comments how great it was to come back year after year with their account still working.

JACK if I had to make a guess--

Probably would be PUTRID, or maybe GYM--there aren't many left that are still regulars from the days when I started....

    Black Widow
    WICKED
    Eerie MYst
    Rod Spain
    Creepy Bob
    David Knoles

to mention a FEW --THOSE were the Forum REGULARS---

They were all here before me and a few others..

When I joined I believe we had between 250-300 members and that was the FIRST year under "ann" (2002) instead of my screen name now--- (2003)

Just like life the Forum revolves and evolves

Great job Larry--it's BECAUSE of YOU there are 4,000 + members. lack of drama and Bullsh** that tends to surface everywhere else on the web seems to elude us here (for the most part) and THAT is why people stay and come back

    Don't torture yourself, Gomez
    That's my job~~
