Anyone have any experience writing mysteries?
I want to change up my format for my Halloween party and my thought is to pull together a Murder Mystery Clue Hunt. If anyone is familiar with a Clue Hunt, you know how much fun they are.
To start the Hunt, I thought I'd tell teams (at specific times) to come to a wooded location where they will find a murder scene complete with dead body, and subtle clues (like drag marks or blood spatter or personal belongings) and the 'Detective' that is waiting there will give them the investigative file to get them going on the next clue.
So, my mental block in all this is how to write up a cohesive storyline, then decide what evidence they will locate and use to be able to figure out the who and why of the mystery.
Then to top off the whole storyline, I want to create a few 'scenes' (read, prop building - yay!) that I can use as the backdrop for their evidence collecting. Also am planning on having a couple of folks (in character, of course - costumes - yay!) planted in public locations that teams will have to locate and interview for evidence or clues, too.
Can anyone help or point me in a direction on how to mystery write?

oh, absolutely, halloweenqn. But if you get your mystery written, will you tell me how you did it? I'm just not sure how to put that together.
