Wow - thanks Ghost Town. I Just checked it out - funny in an important sort of way!
I can't imagine such censorship could be imposed upon the internet and info sources like Google and Wiki. Then we really would be approaching the end of the world as we know it! Imagine if the omnipotent "THEY" shut down Halloween Forum because it was too scary!

I'm in the process of e-mailing a representative right now. No freakin' way should these bills be passed... Make it a point to go to Wikipedia today, find out who yours is, and do the same.

If anyone wants to even copy and paste this letter to your rep, feel free to. Just, please, do something.

"I am opposed to SOPA and PIPA. Though perhaps noble in scope, these bills allowing Internet blockages would only succeed in restricting access to sites that offer useful information for free, such as Wikipedia. It's not fair to the smaller site owners, either. Limiting access and not allowing certain sites to show in search engines takes away from the First Amendment, as far as I am concerned, and the TRUE criminals would find ways around things, just as they always do.

I'm sure that I am not alone in feeling the way that I do. Please consider the people's opinion on the matter before even thinking of signing these into law. Thank you for your time."

Well done Garthgoyle. Me and MysterE did the same via Google campaign now circulating on Facebook. Great letter. If everyone would do this - it would really help.

The bills as they are written would do exactly that. HalloweenForum could absolutely be shut down - ANY site that has a report of possible (notice the "possible" there?) copyright infringement would be shut down with no due process or time to defend or check sources. That would most definitely take out most big sites we all use every single day, but smaller sites like HalloweenForum would also be in danger - it would just take one instance of a possible piracy/copyright infringement accusation, and they would pull the plug on us. It could take weeks or months to successfully defend a site against these accusations and the site would be down for however long it took... and it would always be open for additional accusations. Most smaller sites just don't have the time, money and resources to defend themselves from this kind of thing and would never come back once they killed their site.

All it would take is a few lines of text, a photo or a song... then an accusation... and that site is toast.

If you haven't already, go to the link and let your rep know that you are against SOPA and PIPA.

Having had my Google account frozen for copyright infringement, until I removed what I had posted, I hope this bill is defeated. Otherwise it will then spread throughout the free world and we the individuals will be silenced. Quote - Do as I say, not as I do.
