I have a Home Depot 2 minutes from my house, and a Lowes about 20 minutes. I prefer Lowes - they are always helpful, easier to find things and they have a better selection most of the time too. (I had major stuff done to my house by Lowes due to the incredible staff and prices too - door install and gutters - and they vet their contractors MUCH better than Home Depot in my area. My mom and some friends all had some horrible installers that were contracted out of Home Depot and HD REFUSED to fix the damage that their contractors caused...).
Home Depot is fine for running in for bits and pieces, and their people seem to have gotten lots more friendly and helpful, so I probably do tend to go there more often just because it's so darn close.
I will do a run to Home Depot for things like paint, glue or stuff I know exactly where it is, but if it is a trip for checking on things, looking for stuff I'm not quite sure about/need help with, or costs more than $25, I head to Lowes just to make sure, and anything non-Halloween actual home improvements, I go to Lowes.

I use both stores. Lowes carries alot more rebarb in various lenghts and sells its ops paint for 5.00 but only carries up to 1in in foam. HD carries 2in foam and discounted lumber in the back in 4 ft lenghts for .50. If you are trying to save a few bucks use both.

I [I]have[I] to say Lowe's seeing how they pay my bills and for the most part support my haunt. So we don't talk about the 'Orange Monster' in my house. I am really happy to see all the positive comments about Lowe's.

I was about to ask the Hubby to scout out the Home Depot by his work to see if it really is foamboard nirvana, but then I realized that he wouldn't have a clue as to what he's looking at. I guess I just have to suck it up and make a trip to the "Orange Monster" to see this for myself.
