Hi guys. Well me and my other half have to move again. Ever since I've lived in this city, I think the longest I've ever been able to stay anywhere is about 2 years. Sometimes I've only gotten 6 months in a house and then had to move for one reason or another.
We thought we'd found the perfect house today, but they won't allow us to have the animals. We have chinchillas and guinea pigs.
Houses are wayyy expensive to rent here, and most of them don't have front gardens. I'd really like a front garden so I can haunt it each year. But I just don't know whether we're going to find a house like that which is close enough to the area where we need to be.
I'd also really like a hallway. It sounds stupid. But a lot of houses in this city, the front door opens into your living room and then the street is right there. I like my privacy and I hate that kind of set-up.
I also need to be close to work, but not TOO close because of the kind of people I work with (trust me on this one.) And we need to be close to the bus routes for my partner to get to work...
At the moment it just seems like it's not going to come together and we're going to have to spend MORE for a fraction of the space we have now and we're not gonna get everything we want, even though our budget is fine, because housing is just too expensive here and gaaahhhhhh.![]()

Sounds to me like you need to be on that "House Hunters" show where they pick 3 houses and have to choose one.

Good luck! Honestly, no rodents or other small animals? I can see forbidding dogs and cats but things in cages? Ugh.

Good luck. Over here it's the buyers that have the market now.

I never understood landlords forbidding caged animals like guinea pigs, but allowing cats and dogs... I have had cats and dogs and hamsters and mice, and the dogs and cats have WAY more potential to damage than rodents!

I'm so sorry you're not finding something that is even close to satisfactory. I know how it feels, tho. We took forever looking for houses and I think our agent was getting ready to fire us as clients... but when you know what you want, there's not a whole lot you can do if you want to be happy.
Good luck - hope something comes up that you fall in love with... and for cheap!

Don't give up. I am sure the perfect house is out there which allows pets and had the perfect front yard. Good luck!!
