It is a very sad day in the world of racing.
By now open wheel racing fans have learned of the tragic death this afternoon of driver Dan Wheldon in Las Vegas.
This is a very sad day in the world of racing.
It reminds me of the day Champ Car driver Greg Moore was killed in 1999 at the California Speedway. That too was the final race of the season.
My thoughts are with his loved ones and friends. There are two young children who will never know their father.

RIP Dan. Thoughts are with his wife and kids.
He was a resident of St. Pete across the bay so it definitely strikes close to home. He was a big fan of the St. Pete Grand Prix and won the inaugural race in 2005 I believe. He will be missed.

Yes indeed, I keep thinking about those two little boys. Open wheel racing has lost many drivers throughout the years.
