Yellow/green gourds. Birds land on the big leaves. My cat lurks underneath trying to spring up and catch them.
Anybody know how to tell when they are RIPE?? I know you are SUPPOSED to be able to EAT the things, so they just won't be some sort of fall decoration...soups and baked gourds are the biggies, I guess...but am I looking for size, color, feel...what??

They should feel heavy and sound hollow when you thump them. Coloring is iffy if you don't know the type of gourd they are. So is size. Pretty similar to what a good watermelon sounds like.
