Add another to the list... Anyone who says that dogs are "only animals" needs to see that. They have more feelings than many people possess and are far more loyal, as the story demonstrates.

There's a movie called "Hachi: A Dog's Tale". If that little article choked you guys up, that movie would be a real test on how much you can cry. It was an OK movie.

I just looked that movie up on wikipedia and read the entire plot. Now I'm crying again! Dogs are such wonderful creatures. I'm getting a little teary too because my black lab of 9 years passed away in march. She was loyal to me til the end. She would follow me to every room in the house and never let me out of her sight. Her ashes are now in my living room in a beautiful sage green box.

Those troops serving in realms both foreign and domestic never get enough credit for the jobs they do nor the risks they take. It's because of people like them that we can sit here today and discuss their situation. Those people of the "just animals" school of though (regardless of animal) have no concept of the value of each animal and what they can bring to this world. Call me a bleeding heart, but I fear that most animals have more compassion and loyalty, and provide more companionship, than many of the people I've met (present company excepted, of course!). If you think they're "just animals" you're missing out on a whole lot more in this world than you realize.

It does my heart good to see many of us offering our support. Good on ya!

I was also touched by that story! Very loyal indeed and glad that Jon's best friend Scott is now gonna take care of Hawkeye. It is truly amazing and animals know far more than we realize. We just got a puppy and we haven't had a dog for 17 years since our last golden died. Now I know what I missed all of those years.
Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there wondering, fearing,Doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before
