I have pretty much been absent from HF since the first of the year. I lurk occasionally but have been lost in such a deep depression I didn't even care about Halloween (just typing that seems surreal to me--I have always lived for it and shows me how deep I almost got.) Some know here that my son was born premature 10 years ago and has cp as the result. At the first of the year his surgeon advised me of what his next surgery should be "I need to cut both femurs into at the top of his legs and reallign hips as bones are deformed from incorrect muslce tone, move his knee caps down, his right anke is deformed, need to break it and reallign with big toe and both feet need reconstructive surgery." I sat there, a divorced mom with a ex that does nothing to help whatsoever with the care of our child, stunned, "whuh?" This surgery will have to take place 3 states away and I will have to live there at the hospital 6 to 8 weeks with him for horrible recovery and pt. Needless to say I lapsed into a great dark void and made up my mind just recently, nope, not gonna stay here. So I returned here and began to read how members are gearing up, what party and haunt plans they have and little by little I am returning to my happy place and I have decided I won't be able to put on my big charity haunts like I have in the past, but I want to do something. Maybe have a themed party and invite my family to come. Having something to focus on other than what my child is facing next year helps keep the demons at bay. So everyone please keep posting your plans and your ideas, reading them daily is helping to pull me out and I am thankful and can honestly say if it weren't for reading this forum I don't know where I would be. You people are the best.

Peeweepinson, I am so sorry to hear that your son is going to have to go through this. It sounds like the Doctors think that this will help him though and in the end it will be all worth it!! I can completely understand having something happen that pushes you into a darker place where it seems that nothing you've enjoyed in the past can help. I'm glad to hear that you're feeling better and more like yourself.

I can relate to how this forum can make you feel excited and happy! I could be having the WORST day and when I come on here and read everyone's posts and what they're planning it just makes me feel so much better. Having even a small party sounds like a great idea for you! It definitely does give you something positive to focus on and it would be so much fun to plan.

I will definitely keep both you and your son in my thoughts and prayers!! Keep us posted if you decide to have the party and let us know what you're planning. I'm sure I can speak for everyone here when I say that we love to hear all about it!!!

It's great to see you back, PeeWee!
I'm sorry to hear about all the procedures your son will have to go through. That's a lot for a kid of 10 years. I hope everything works out for the best!
I'm also glad you've got your Halloween spirit back. We all have our ups and downs and it all seems overwhelming at times, but your idea about cutting back is the thing to do. When it's so much work it's not fun anymore it's definitely time to scale back.
I hope to see you back posting a lot here! Welcome back!

I'm so sorry to hear that you've been going through so much. I know I can't even begin to imagine what you're going through but from my own experience, it is nice to have something else to focus on. I ALWAYS ALWAYS have to have a new project to work on otherwise I get depressed. Whether its organizing a room at home, planning a party, a garden project, or what has me going now - Halloween! I know it seems silly, but I have to keep my mind focused on something at all times.

I do pray that your sons procedures go smoothly and he has a quick recovery. Hugs.
    Is it Halloween yet?

    Welcome Back, peewee!

Our thoughts & prayers are also with you & your baby (I don't care that he's 10 - he's always be your baby!)

I can't imagine what you're going thru either, but I'm glad this site helps you feel better!

    Let me say this:

If you've seen pictures of my yard (which I'm assuming you haven't, based on your absence), you know sort of how its laid out. Well, this year I'm gunna have the tree hanging thing again, I want to upgrade my tombstones with tiered bases and cemented bottoms (or something alike) to help them stand up and keep them weighed down on their own. Me and my Old Man will be re-building the monster in a box this year, as our first attempt was 1. Way to large and we couldn't reach the bottom if we dropped something in and 2. It's been made into the base of a work table in the garage. So that's being done again. I'm hoping to get my hands on a few blucky's. These will turn into (hopefully) a spit roasting corpse, a ToT'r in a cage. Use some pieces for a skeletal fountain x2 (trying to learn some molding and casting techniques to duplicate some items) and if that all gets done by some light of the moon, a ground breaker or two.

    EDIT:

Let me show my support for a fellow haunter. Being short on experience in what to say in these situations, I hope you'll understand that by me saying this, I am showing my support.

    In my defense for the rest of my reply may I recall this;

PeeWee good to have you back to the HF! So sorry to hear about your son and the procedures / rehab that lies ahead. Like Kallie said, you two are brave and you are both strong! I am always amazed by the resiliency of kids, I am sure he will astonish all of us with his strength and spirit! As a parent I can't imagine what you are facing, I will keep you both in my prayers.

Keep us posted on your EAP party planning, we will want details!!!
