We know this, that's why you're here.

I've posted about the monster toys and such that we all grew up with and loved, but when it comes to scary.....

How many of you like to get your game on....?

I'm talkin' Resident Evil. Left for dead, Dead Nation, Dead Rising, Dead Space, Silent Hill, Red Dead Redemption:Undead nightmare, and Bioshock....

As a lifelong gamer, I'm very jaded when it comes to games, but for me, four come to the top for this genre.

    PS1- Silent Hill.

First time I played this game was at night, in almost total darkness. This was a bad mistake. Creeped me out so bad that I had to stop playing, get up, and turn on some lights. It literally made the hairs on my arms stand straight up.
You think you know scary. Play this game in the dark. I dare you.

    PS3- Bioshock 1+2.

Lotsa horror goodness. The stories are deep, engaging, and mind bending. Show me another game where one of the missions is that you have to find and kill some folks, so another guy can make art work from their corpses on an elaborate stage.
This is a true thinking persons game, and certainly NOT another mindless "shoot'em up" like so many others. And the ending of the first one will melt your brain. One of the most epic plot twists ever !!!!

    PS3- Deadspace.

This game is astounding. Like the Aliens movies you're trapped in a forgotten space ship, you have to explore it, and find out what the heck happened here. And what you find out, you truly wish you hadn't. Your girlfriend is some where in this horrible abomination, and you have to find her, and save her. There are indeed undead monstrosities here, and they all want to know what you taste like. Very scary goodness.

    And most of all:

    PS2- Resident Evil 4.

All of the Resisdent Evil's are outstanding. But if games had an oscar, RE4 would've stolen the show. It just doesn't get any better than this, hands down, period. The first time you shoot a zombie in the face and blow it's head off, and a horrible creature rips itself out out it's neck, re-animates and comes up and after you....well, that's the true stuff of nightmares.

    Game on playa's !!!

What horror/scary games do you like..?

    The whole list is here:

I'll list a few that I have played

-Resident Evil, my first true scary game. Even just the way they said the name in the intro scared me as a kid(19now)
    -Silent Hill
    -Man Hunt
-The Fear series, I've yet to break the wrapper on the latest one
    -Left4dead 1,2
-Red Dead was awesome, the zombie bigfoots are crazy
    -Call of Cthulhu
    -Amnesia
    -Bioshock series
    -Deep Space

There are more but I would have to go look, those are the main ones that I remember.
We stopped checking for monsters under our beds when we realized they were inside of us

I like Doom and Doom2, but the one that creeps me out is Quake. Between the times you're fighting the creepy monsters that ambush you, the game has an eerie silence, save for a few subtle spooky background sounds....dripping water, moans and groans, the occasional chain clank. It even has zombies that throw their own toxic flesh at you (shooting them only knocks them down temporarily...to kill them you have to blow them up).

I live alone (aside from my landlord and landlady upstairs), and there have been times I'd be playing this game late at night, and just getting attacked unexpectedly in the game made me literally jump.
"Waiter, there's a hair in my soylent green!"

I'm not much of a gamer these days, but I remember playing 7th Guest way back in the mid-90s (in...DOS? :P) Just saw it's available for the iPad and I'm tempted to pick it up just for the nostalgia. It was a puzzle game that was really pretty darn creepy.

And, of course, there's always Haunted House for the Atari. Yup, at some point, I found these pixels pretty scary...
