Yesterday I got the call at work that my 14 year old Bouvier des Flanders was in tough shape and was being carried to the vets because she could no longer walk or stand up. She was a 90lb gentle giant who some thought when she walked through the snow she looked more like a baby polar bear than a dog. She was a surrogate mother to our Beagle and our Schnoodle and was great with kids. I rushed to the vets and found her strapped to a stretcher unable to stand. I held her head in my arms until she passed on from the shot the vet gave her. Tonight I came home and knew she would not be there waiting for me. There is a huge hole in my heart right now and I don't think it can filled anytime soon. This was my big girl!

Having recently gone through this with my pup, I know the feeling of emptiness you have. What a beautiful dog and at 14 years, lived a good long life. So sorry for your loss but time will heal the hurt.

TD I am so so sorry to hear this. I am sitting here reading your post and started to cry because I know just how much a family pet can mean to a person. I have a Beagle myself who while a royal pain at times is my HEART! I love that dog as much as any family member as as he gets older and has little things wrong here and there I realize that the kind of day you had will one day come.
I am truly touched by your words. I could feel the love you had for her in your words and they touched my heart. Know we here for you in any way you need. My prayers (whether you believe it that sort of thing or not) are with you. May that big girl of yours Rest in Peace.
Linus: You've heard about fury and a woman scorned?
Charlie Brown: Yes, I guess I have.
Linus: Well that is nothing compared to the fury of a woman who has been cheated out of tricks or treats!
