I'm goin' for the post-gory look.

That was me Thursday morning AFTER a percocet. I looked liked someone transplanted Angelina Jolie's bottom lip on me pre-percocet.

I fell off our front steps & into the cement & a planter. I fell here. I fell from the front steps down to that rectangular planter. These are old pics, there's a pond & streambed there now, but that's where I fell.

I am VERY lucky. I still have all my teeth, I didn't fall into the water & I had no real head injury (I just konked my lips & knee).

I really have no idea how it happened. I was standing on that top step feeding the fish in the pond & went to step down to go get the mail & then I was falling. I got my feet tangled, I wasn't on the step & I thought I was & misstepped, I really don't know.

The inside of my bottom lip is much grosser than any of the outside & it's what really bothers me. I can't bring myself to take that pic though. I'm good when the ooky stuff is on other people, not so much when it's on me. They gave me a knee brace & crutches but I'm not using them. Surprisingly my knee just doesn't feel that bad. But just in case I have an appointment with an ortho guy on Monday morning.

I've got 2 stitches inside on the bottom, 2 outside, 2 inside the top & 2 outside on the top. They can be removed end of next week.

So now I'm devoting my time to watching 30 episodes of Twin Peaks on Netflix, trying to find things to eat (chewing is OK but I can only open my mouth so wide), & sleeping off & on.

For those that would like know, this is what that area looks like now. We did it ourselves & pretty proud of it. Most of what's IN the pond in this pic is different now. Those plants just took over, water lettuce & hyacinths tend to do that but we didn't know that then. The tall stuff is still there, but the surface stuff is gone.

Wow, RCIAG! Yes, I would say you were very lucky! I'm glad you're OK, and I hope your appointment goes well and doesn't result in any other procedures.

The pond looks really cool. I do have one suggestion, though. How about adding a railing at least to the sides of that porch so that this doesn't happen again, to you or anyone else?

Oh, you poor dear. Here's a vote for some unlimited ice cream (or milkshakes) to go with the Twin Peaks marathon. Halloween hug (((hug)))

Railing....never thought of that!! I am a major klutz so knowing me I'd get myself caught in the railing somehow. I fell forward though, so railing wouldn't have helped.

As painful as it was & still is, I know it could've been a lot worse. My knee is all yellow & I can't really bend it all the way yet but I'm very surprised it isn't worse. The first thing I did when I got up was check my teeth to see if they were loose or broken.

I'm gonna call the ER tonite to see if I can get some more pain meds. More for my mouth than anything else. If I'd only hit my top lip I'd be better, but I just butchered the inside of my bottom lip.

Usually things look worse than they feel, this is the opposite, it doesn't look as bad as it feels.

Ouch! So sorry to hear of your ordeal RCIAG! I really can imagine how difficult those stiches are cause of where they are located. Just facial expressions and eating and sneezing and yawning all must hurt. When they are in an area that gets a lot of movement it really hurts more. Glad that your teeth are still intact and you did not break anything. Be carefull of your knee even though it dosen't feel that bad right now. You have beautiful eyes by the way!

Thanks everyone & thanks blackfog for the eye compliment.

When my hubby saw the pic he said "Even when you're all messed up, you still have pretty eyes."

You can't have him he's mine!!

Glad your okay, I can relate to stuff like this. I am known to be rather clumsy, I have lots of scars from falls I cannot explain what happened.

OUCHIE!!! Are you okay? I think you really should get bubble wrap and just wrap it around you to prevent any more injuries....
