I'm watching. Will see the third ep tonight. Since this show is based on a very popular series of books, it's interesting to note that apparently it follows them very closely.
I do however think that the general public is going to have a harder time with this show. The right audience will love it. One who appreciates the books or just the genre and can take it all without being appalled.
The violence is... well I have never seen so many body parts and decapitations as in the first ten minutes of ep 1. There is a lot of hardcore (not pornographic, just no holds barred) sexuality, nudity, and then there is the incestuous aspect that is part and parcel to the storyline. There are rapes, murders, and all in stride for the world that this show takes place in. It's pretty gnarly.
But an incredibly well done show.
My favorite points... other than the Dire Wolves because OMG I love them-
-Peter Dinklage, such a great actor and so perfect for the role
-the realism of Daenerys' marriage (practically being sold) to a total stranger and not for love at all, and how she has to learn and cope with that.
-the Bastard son who is going to clearly kick some ass
I'm about to watch ep 3... and my daughter is waking, gotta go.
Hope we can get some intelligent discussion going about the show!

This show's gotten really good... I'm so glad, because after 2 & 3 I almost stopped watching. Kept watching because of Peter Dinklage. But it picked back up.
Also: Bye bye, Viserys Targaryen! HA!

Makes me wish I had a television! Actually, I have one, so I can watch DVDs. I stopped watching TV once the US went digital (never had cable or anything, just over-the-air).
Maybe I'll read the books again. It's been several years.

Excellent series, so far. I haven't read the books, but enjoy this particular genre.
edit: I was wondering about one facet of the storyline, and found out my answer a bit ago....ought to be good...

omg. THAT was effing upsetting.
I really REALLY hope Needle skewers that Joffrey one day, that horrid little punk!!!!
Also... omg, what is going to happen to Khaleesi's baby, being carried into that tent when the healer woman said the dead would be dancing there and no one should enter?
Oh I thought this was a season finale and I am so glad I was wrong! That's next week.

I'm debating reading the books or not. Part of me wants to, and part of me doesn't want to spoil the series by knowing in advance what's going to happen.
I have a feeling that Joffrey will get his comeuppance, along with the Lannisters.
Ought to be a great season finale.
btw, Starz has a series now about King Arthur called "Camelot". I just finished watching the first season last night, and it's a great series as well."Hello darkness, my old friend...."
