    All of those insurance companys.
Biggest 6 month losses ever with the bad earthquakes and now Japan, estimates run to 100 Billion. 30 Billion just for the earthquake portion of the damage.
Its sometimes hard to tell which is more in danger, our very existence or our ability to remain calm, happy and have a good day?
The media sensationalises everything all the time as to the best of their potentual allowable abilitys to keep listeners and viewers, so we can't forget this when consciously determining how we are going to go about our day.

Gym, we had a teeny tiny earthquake here in MD last year, barely a 2. We' re not exactly on the San Andreas here in Montgomery County, MD, yet a week later we got a postcard from our insurance company letting us know we could easily get earthquake insurance from them.

    First I LOL'd, then I , then I .

I kept it & still use it as a bookmark.

Anyhooo... 2012, I believe it will come & go, I'll age another year & have another Halloween. Doesn't matter what the year is or the prophecy, when it doesn't come true the "believers" will change the story to fit the circumstances.

I Agree, its just a number. It'll come and go, and a brand new doomsday will take its place.

Well like my Old Man said - It was supposed to happen in like 1976, then in 1989 (years may not be correct) and now 2012. He calls it fear mongering. I like RCIAG's last point, the believers will change it to fit any circumstances.

It's hard for me to say one way or the other. I go with the non-believer side to not scare myself.

I thought I was successful in proving that the world would end in 2009. I still think my logic was infallible.
I took a 2009 calendar and flipped to the last page. THERE WERE NO PAGES BEYOND DECEMBER! Obviously, that's the end of all existence, because the calendar ended.
I pointed out that I just have to buy a new one for 2010, or could create my own by figuring the day after December 31st would possibly be the first of January, and go from there.
I just got grumbly face. The believers were offended, and the scoffers laughed.
