Saw that article yesterday and was mesmerized! It's just so cool being able to see back all those years.

Very nice pics, thanks for that!
I've always been in awe of those Frontier people. The fortitude that it took to move west is unimaginable to me today. And they were tough as nails, physically, as well. As a 24 year old, working in Prince Rupert, BC one summer, I climbed the Chilkoot Pass. I thought I was in shape. Plus I had all the modern day state-of-the-art stuff, light-weight hiking boots, freeze-dried grub, Gore-tex, you name it. I did the hike in late June. There was still a lot of gnarly snow at the top of the pass, and it was WINDY. The hike almost did me in. I made it, but my thighs were on fire, throbbing. I couldn't sleep the second night, and wound up taking the train back to Skagway. Yup. I wimped out. Now. In the Winter of 1998 the Chilkoot was the route taken by thousands of Prospectors headed to the Klondike in the Yukon Territory. Those guys were required by Law (the RCMP) to carry 2,000 lbs of gear per person. One year's supply of gear, food, etc. The cops didn't want them killing one another over necessities. I can't even imagine doiung that, even in the prime of my life. Us alive today can't come close to those Frontierspeople, in mind, spirit or body.Wolfman

Thanks so much for sharing this, uk!
It's so amazing and inspiring. My step-father will love it too. It's great to be able to see pics and some history from back then, and we appreciate it!
