The old version with John Wayne was a classic.

I've got a copy, haven't watched it yet though. The imdb reviews look good.

If your a fan of the classic I don't recomend this film at all. No offense to the movie but it's not worth the $13.00 ticket.
halloween is a super cool holiday.

I watched it, I thought it was excellent. I'd recommend seeing it and judge for yourself

The new version is great. It's definitely a character piece... slow moving like "Unforgiven"... My only complaint is that Hailee Steinfeld absolutely STEALS the first 30 minutes of the movie, and then is given nothing else to do for the rest of it... she deserves an Oscar nod though, just the same...

2 out of 3 people here like it so I guess it woulden't be to bad to check out. I'm just a sucker for all John Wayne films.

From what I've read about the new version, it's based more on the book rather than the John Wayne version.

I'm normally against remakes or "reimaginings" but this update is by the Coen Brothers who are on my Top Ten Fave Directors of All Time list so I plan to see this one.

Plus The Dude is Rooster Cogburn, how can that be a bad thing?

In True Grit, he is very "un-dude".

Though I do think Rooster drinks a White Russian in one scene...

I've always loved Jeff Bridges, Crazy Heart was just an amazing movie & he deserved his Oscar.
